 | reply to Keano said by Keano:The lockout has nothing to do with it. NBC signed a 10 year deal with the NHL last year. Really?
Either way, great news... Extremely happy to see a major broadcast company like NBC step up... -- Smoke'm if ya got'em !!! |

I think they might actually have a shot at raising its ratings this way. |

 | reply to nyrmetros said by nyrmetros: why didn't BeIn just buy Gol tv outright ?? Why would you buy a channel that had squat on it other than the broadcasting rights you just took away from them? As far as I remember, GOLTV's only promising content (in my opinion anyway) was La Liga.. -- Smoke'm if ya got'em !!! |

I would hazard a guess that buying out Gol wouldn't be an especially expensive proposition. |

I dunno about that, from what I remember they had some games from Brazil, maybe El Salvador or Ecuador... probably not worth the hassel or pennies.... Nothing against those league's, just not very attractive. -- Smoke'm if ya got'em !!! |

If NBC thinks Formula 1 will help them compete with ESPN they're delusional. F1 ratings are miniscule. I think NBC is getting Formula 1 at precisely the right time. The sport has changed dramatically in the past two seasons with refueling leaving and the tire degradation. Its become a very fast paced sport with lots of changing action. Great for TV. Rarely a full course yellow. Almost constantly cars in the pits, back and forth between what teams are at the top, and lots of dicing throughout the field. Now you have a new world class course in Austin, which will get a lot of interest and probably new fans.
At the same time, you have the Big East and ACC talking about getting their games on NBC and NBCSN. Not the greatest football conferences, but huge for basketball. If they can win these contracts, this will be huge and will get some great cross promotion for F1 and IndyCar. |

 | reply to jodhak TWC North Texas added both bein's in SD and HD. I'd be ok with SD for now on FiOS. |

 | reply to jodhak BeIN is now available on time warner and brighthouse... FiOS?!? Could be waiting for HD add? |

bohratomJersey Shore will rise again join:2011-07-07 Red Bank NJ | reply to jodhak I'm all for BeIn being added to the FIOS lineup as long as its part of the sports package. Having just been hit with a RSN monthly fee the last thing I want is being charged more for another sports channel I won't watch. |

 | I love the report recently that Fox was getting ready to dump Fox Soccer and rebrand it as FX2. There is no reason to be adding any additional soccer channels. No one watches it - just ask fox soccer. |

Sorry, you are incorrect and NYR is dead on, soccer is getting more and more popular (though it will never reach nfl/mlb/nba/college fb/bb heights in the US). And the ONLY reason Fox is doing that is because they lost broadcast rights to the Premier league to NBC. They just won't have enough soccer programming to fill the channel any longer. It is quite the opposite as you think, more people are watching and the programming is more desirable which is why NBC outbid Fox.
Personally I would like to see beIn added BUT only if it doesn't raise my rates. if so I can live without it. -- Verizon is becoming the new Comcast
Those .tv channels have got to go!!!!!!!!!! |

Where do you get off saying that no one watches soccer....? The ratings, the ratings are not good for any soccer match outside of ESPN. And color bars get a 1.0 on ESPN, because it's got so many homes. What FOX is doing is unfortunate, with SPEED and perhaps with FSC. Regardless, like I've been saying, Verizon is not going to meet BeIN's price. They have little reason to. If BeIN wants on, they'll have to offer it for squat and take it on a higher tier like GOL TV. |
|
 | I don't want my rates to increase either just because BeOut has hijacked some Usmnt games, but Damn I need to watch the USA games! |
|
 | reply to Greg2600 I've wanted to see BEIN offered on FIOS for a while and despite all the requests on message boards, no action and no press release either. So, I suggest writing to Benjamin Grad, Verizon, Director, Content Strategy & Acquisition.
benjamin.d.grad@verizon.com
And Lowell McAdam, Verizon CEO
lowell.mcadam@one.verizon.com
Make the case that you, a Verizon FIOS subscriber, want to see BEIN USA on the FIOS channel lineup. |
