How to get the new version?
If you don't have Google Chrome, install it from google.com/chrome
Subscribe to the developer preview channel. This is required even if you've previously subscribed to the channel.
Wait until the new version is downloaded (you may force the updatie by opening the "About Google Chrome" dialog).

64bit Chrome only works for Intel Chip Sets.
For Mac OS X 10.5 or later, Intel only

I cannot speak for Google, but that version of Chrome is for Intel boxes only.
Do you have an Intel box?
If not, that is why it will not work on your box.
If you do have an Intel box, there should be an error code which you can figure out why it is not installing.

This is why you cannot install Java 7 on Chrome.
Java 7 and Chrome on Mac OS X
Chrome does not support Java 7 on the Mac platform.
A 64-bit browser (Safari or Firefox, for example) is required to run Java 7 on Mac OS X. 32-bit browsers such as Chrome do not support Java 7 on the Mac platform.

That is because there is no 64 bit Chrome for OS X anymore. The one that I had got pulled 2 days ago and replaced with a 32 Bit version.
The latest Developers release that I have is 32 Bit.

If you had read my last post on Java 7 and the link instead of just brushing it off, you would have seen it.
Just visit that site and a 64 Bit version will appear.

Woburn, MA | I went to the link and missed that, I assure you I didn't brush it off =) Your post also said about running Chome 64-bit plugin which to me made it seem like you were talking about the Java Plugin. Based on the other posts you had made when I downloaded it at the time I figured 64bit was still available. Sorry about the confusion! |
