Why would anyone use Acanac

Reading these reviews, why would anyone think of using Acanac?

Unfortunately, the ONLY reason anyone would think of using Acanac is because they are "cheap". That's about it.
Other than that, nope, I can NOT think of any other reason myself.
Especially now that "Lynn" -the previous customer support person on this forum has recently left, then there really isn't any reason to use acanac
- sad to say eh ?

My DSL is fast, stable, with no gimmicks (as in the new Bell...265Gb first 8 mos...then 15Gb/mo after lol), and no cap. Since the CRTC rule, socialist price controls across all ISPs is here, just like Rogers and Bell like it. Make sure you get what you pay for. Read the other ISP forums and you will see the problems others have with different providers. Don't know who you guys use, but I'm very happy with Acanac service. I hope you are happy with your provider.

Re: Why would anyone use Acanac

I would agree the only issue i have ever had is my dry loop has been dissconnectd 3 times.... you read right. Never had dns or routing issue... never had a a problem with my inside wiring.... but the bell techs keep on killing the dialtone by unplugging on street. I have literally been on a voip call had it drop off.... walked to the central office (2 minutes from my house) banged on door till tech opened up and told him to put it back on.... another time took 2 weeks (at no fault to acanac).... 5 service techs to house - last one in disbelief from another area... was like WTF???? your line is literally not plugged in .....

First off, you're going to see 10 or 20 bad posts to every good one - very few people will take the trouble to post about a good experience but a forum is a safe way to vent some frustrations about a bad one.

That's why using forums to judge the quality of a service is not a great idea.

Reasons to use Acanac?
- it's an alternative to the big boys, competition is good
- generous or unlimited bandwidth caps
- usually cheaper

Personally my Acanac cable internet experience has been great, but there are some service horror stories out there that would change my mind too if I experienced them. However, there are some decent folk on the Acanac community forum willing to help if you're willing to be patient and reasonable.

I think using forum to judge can be good by reading forums in all providers you have an interest...

You have an idea on how customer service is when you see what kind of problem customer have.

If you compare to other providers, you can see the difference between those... If you constantly read that it's hard to get a refund in one provider and never see that kind of problem in the other, I think you know they're having a problem with that...

But I agree that Acanac are usually cheaper...
It also depends on what kind of customer you are... service or pricing? Are you able to wait to get thing solve? Do you have a Backup Internet access like I do in case it's not working?

Acanac deserves Quebec but they don't have any french service at all... Without Montreal area, nobody speak English here... That's a problem for a lot of customers. When I tell people what provider I use and I say it's English only, they don't want to use them! They prefer to pay a little bit more and having someone who can understand them and also give support on phone in French...

They are also loosing customer that way...
But that's their Business decision, not mine...
