HIS 6870 Fan Turbo 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E HDMI/2xDVI/2xMini DP
I use the AMD Radeon HD 6870 graphics. Great performance graphics for gaming and watching 1080p Blu-ray.

On the ADM website AMD is saying that the Engine Clock is 900MHz and the Memory Clock 1050MHz.

My graphics software I download from AMD is showing that the Engine Clock is 920 and the Memory Clock is 1120MHz.

I don't understand here because both the website specs and the software specs can't both be right.

Witch one is telling me the correct information???

Video card manufactures may have models that go beyond the spec. In other words they may factory overclock specific models and charge a slightly higher price for it. Check the video card manufacturer’s cited spec for your exact model if interested but this looks like a case of “if it isn’t broken don’t try and fix it”,….

Specs for my ATI HD6870.

Keep in mind, these cards will "throttle" up, or down depending on need, (GPU load). Clock speed, and memory speed is also adjustable to some degree.

Your telling me that the manufacture overclocked my Radeon HD 6870 graphics card just to make a higher profit??? So the manufacture specs of the AMD Radeon HD 6870 is correct just as the information from AMD's own website is correct as well???

Pet peeve:

Which one?

The Witch (don't startle her!)

I don't understand the point behind this thread. Manufacturers improve upon reference designs all the time.

Watch out, I've gotten in BIG trouble for doing this. I know must suffer the torture of keeping silent.

From the picture and spec you put. Also not every one is in it for the money. Gigabyte gtx 670 oc cost just as much as the default clock $300.

They did it to increase the performance. It only increases their profit if you pay them more for it (or decreases it if they don't charge much more but they get more RMAs). This information is out in the open and informed consumers can use it when making a decision. As far as pulling one over on consumers who aren't informed, I'd say they are only doing that if they clock it below the reference specs.
