Re: Disney features anti-open source propaganda in kids' sitcom I'd complain about your pedantry, but It'd make me a hypocrite. |

Yep. Were they YOUR eyeballs? They sure weren't mine. The assumption is that someone is reading that code. The reality? Not so much. Depends on the code. You can bet many people read the kernel code. -- Getting people to stop using windows is more or less the same as trying to get people to stop smoking tobacco products. Open source or not, can you really trust your compiler?

At the same time, it's one of the neatest hacks I'd ever heard of, and very disquieting. -- English is a difficult enough language to interpret correctly when its rules are followed, let alone when a writer chooses not to follow those rules.

| Precisely, but it goes a bit farther than that. even if you entered the ones and zeroes that make up the compiler executable into the machine by hand, yourself, you still must trust the microcode on the CPU to not recognize that you're inputting a compiler and alter the bits as you enter them.
This line of conversation is a wonderland for the truly paranoid. I say we keep it going and see what theories start flying. |

If more people read license agreements, less people would buy software. If there's a EULA, then you're not buying software, you're buying a license to use software. If more people understood that, then they'd be less surprised over what they were handing money over for. This will never be something you will get people to believe. Because people go to a store and buy software just the same as they buy a blender. As such its only natural for them to see their retail copy of windows as like a blender.
Someday people might understand they only license it, but as long as they can clutch something in their hands they will see it as product. -- [65 Arcanist]Filan(High Elf) Zone: Broadband Reports |

They say it's a small world after all, but in the Magic Kingdom, it appears to be a FUD-filled world as well. |

No, clearly this is a full out assault against FOSS... by brainwashing a legion of children who will grow up using Apple devices and never touch let alone know what FOSS is. Because it's not in the app store. -- My place : »www.schettino.us |
