2 edits | [AB] Lightning Interfering with DSL I have the Speedtouch ST516v6 connected to my Linksys e3200. Whenever there is lightning, my modem loses sync. I am on ADSL2+ on the 15 Mb/s plan (High Speed Turbo) and I don't think my phone lines have ever been replaced. My house is over 60 years old and the phone lines (2 running in, only one in use) are untwisted, two decently thick wires on each of the two runs from the pole. Would it be a good idea to tell Telus about my problems and try to get my lines replaced?
I have a POTS splitter installed with a cat5e cable running about 15 feet to the modem.
I also have an Actiontec modem and I noticed that when I use it, it doesn't lose sync durning stoms with lightning, but it has major UPnP problems and DHCP reservation issues, so the device is pretty much a joke and I don't want to go back to it. If I have to put up with the internet going down ever once in a while with my Speedtouch, then that's how it will be. The Actiontec is out of the question. |

 | Some electronics are more sensitive to lightning. If the Actiontec doesn't lose sync, I doubt it will be the line. |

 | Thanks for the input. |
