Re: WoW needs to incorporate WvWvW comabt like GW2 Here's the threads--we have a DSLR guild and have 36 users active in it already prior to official game launch tomorrow--about ~45 have signed up or expressed interest. I know the game thread is long, all the info you need is in the OP of the Aftershock thread:
»[GW2] Official DSLR Guild: Aftershock (SHOK) Info »Official Guild Wars 2 Thread -- If we lose this freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment, those who had the most to lose, did the least to prevent its happening. |

And I am going into GW2 with no hopes of it being a WoW killer. I really enjoy Wow, but hey, if GW2 is that awesome, then you never know... We're all on Jade Quarry server.
Also, I couldn't give 2 shits if GW2 is a WoW killer or not. I don't play WoW anymore anyways, so it doesn't really matter to me. I just want to play an immersive MMO that's fun. GW2 seems to be it so far. |

| reply to TheThing I've always loved WoW, and I loved WoW PvP... and WoW play control and responsiveness is still King....
However, GW2 is bringing new innovation to the table, and if WoW swallowed it's pride, and admitted that some of those things would be good changes for WoW, it would benefit WoW.
Either adapt or die... and yes if WoW/blizzard doesn't adapt they will die someday.
If WoW incorporated WvWvW (in some form) I would definitely come back...
after WvW, BGs don't cut it anymore.
it could be a simple FIX to WoW lore...
Horde & Alliance... have to put aside their differences, reluctantly and temporarily to defeat the invaders from the other world... an uneasy/fragile cooperation between them
WvW in WoW would be epic and awesome, and all of you would be in line waiting to get into it |

1 edit | reply to TheThing I think I've had 2 OH SHIT AWESOME moments in PvP
#1 - First time I did 40v40 AV... i was like oh shit this is awesome! truly massive PvP
#2 - Frist time I did WvW GW2... takes massively multiplayer PvP to the next level
WG and TB didn't take me there
arena in WoW is awesome, but it wasn't an epic in scale moment |

GhastlyonePremium join:2009-01-07 Las Vegas, NV kudos:2 | reply to TheThing It's not only WvWvW.
It's all the other things in GW2 they did. Instant teleporting around the map. I've waited forever for Blizzard to incorporate that into WoW. Still nothing. We still ahve 10-15min flight paths.
Blizzard has always had a hard on for making travel in WoW difficult/time consuming for some reason. I don't get it.
I grouped with a guildie the other day in GW2. It took him literally 1 minute to get to my location. We grouped and got our objective done. |

| Yes, this is awesome features of GW2. and I do love those!
However, WvWvW could simply just be "added" to WoW as a separate Queue in the game, without changing anything else... (Q for arena, Q for BGs, Q for WvW)
just award honor at a different pace or something for BGs vs. WvW
those other GW2 features you speak of, would be MAJOR overhauls to WoW entirely, major...
WvWvW could simply be an instanced, separate, addition |

knowble join:2012-07-30 Newport News, VA | reply to Ghastlyone I completely disagree with the preface that WoW has travel issues.
Players are able to fly around the zones... completely eliminating the sense of scale one should feel.
It is actually common knowledge that GW2 made it a goal to make sure that people had to enjoy/endure zones by walking around.
Teleporting from zone to zone is better than flight paths, but being able to fly around the entire world at (possibly) 310% normal speed MORE than makes up for it.
I actually wish WoW didn't introduce flying mounts... it did take away quite a bit of the "oh my" factor (for me, anyways).
While I think you are wrong, I am not saying GW2 did anything wrong here. I think they were right on the money with travel mechanics. |

| reply to TheThing I agree with flying mounts in WoW
I think flying mounts are BAD for world immersion satisfaction
I think it boils down to the LOTR affect...
the journey to mordor would be cheapened if they could fly the eagles there and get dropped off
wouldn't be a story then! |

It's the perfect excuse to go grab the next beer (or *some* from the fridge.
Otoh, I've really enjoyed my paladins almost 500% flight speed... (guild perks + crusader "aura" (which now I get to be a greedy sob like those damn DK's and keep all to my own) + master flying)
Oh, and regarding WvW stuff back in the game... I'd kinda like something like Silithus, post AQ gate opening... There was/still is PVP stuff to do there that is persistent and can constantly change hands... -- I work at T-Mobile. I play games and enjoy time off of work. I've been a member here longer than I've worked there. I have my own opinions, they do not hold anything to T-Mobile USA, etc etc etc... |

Imagine 4 zones the size of the Icecrown zone with a Wintergrasp castle in each except a middle one with a miniature Org. Now place towers supply lines and other areas as such. Put three servers there with 150 people each and let them duke it out like a giant 2 week long Alteric Valley.
Every 5 minutes points are awarded based on how much you control and given to your server. At certain increments your points unlock rewards for your server such as 10% increased xp, better crafting chance ect. Everyone is auto-leveled to max and you can get items from dead players ect. No mounts. Siege weapons, balitstas, but nothing you can ride. You only get credit for participation so standing around does nothing.
This is about the best I can do. -- I am stating my opinion. Obviously you don't like it. Honestly, I don't care. |
