[Serious] Please Keep Hamilton in your thoughts...

I would like to bring the recent stabbings in the central-east area of the city to your attention.

These people need to be helped. Why are we letting them fall though the cracks of society? Way are we not providing free Psychological Help? Not Psychiatric help... Difference is one Gives you the tools to deal with your problem(s); the other provisions drugs and life long disability without said drugs.

This is getting to be a nasty city, it's soo negative and depressed. What happened to the "Steel City"? We need the old Hamilton back!

Screw you Harper, and other politicians... Why did you have to kill off what was left of our manufacturing industry?

Hmmm, and in today's news US Steel is putting all their laid off employees to work, and hiring a bunch more. McMaster and Hamilton Health Sciences has filled in the gap quite well with the local job market. Every city in Canada has their problem areas, Hamilton is no exception.

You can actually say screw you McGuinty as he's the one that closed up just about all the psychological mental health centers, as he'd prefer people to be medicated instead, easier mind control. And yes, I am serious.

My ex father in law still works for the Steel industry, $50/hour for 60 minutes of actual work a day in a 12 hour shift. That is non-unionized Defasco, so if the unionized shops are having it rough, blame the unions.

This one?

In all honesty, most of downtown is a dive. If I could live on the mountain, I would. It really is night-and-day.

The economy, higher cost of human labour, manufacturing needs, business management... etc.

None of this has anything to do with Harper and the issues existed long before Harper came along. Rather, some of Harper's policies could have a positive effect on returning business to Hamilton.

I lived at Main and Gage, and at Upper Wellington and Queensdale, both had some crime issues....guy robbing a gas station, and a drunkard who thought he was at his house when he was rapping on the door at my house at 4am.....

So, its not a horrible town. There are dumpy areas in any city....its just unfortunate that this happens.

Oh, well in that case. It's easy to point from your safe haven up on the mountain to those in the north end and say "these people need to be helped!"

LOL. You think there's no crime on the West Mountain?

That's hilarious.

While I wouldn't compare it to Barton Lottridge, it's certainly not crime-free.

To Quote Terry Whitehead (AKA: Pencil Throwing Child) -- There are about 60% less break-in's, Murder's and death's relating to crime in the west/central mountain area of Hamilton. more specifically, the highest drunken driver collisions occur in the burrow of Bonnington, Hamilton, ON"

So to sum up, my question, how could we (The citizens of Canada) help Hamilton to become the industrial hotspot it once was and help to curtail the crime instead of just complaining about it?

(I ask because I have no idea where to start on such a thing, especially something realistic)

Really...60% less break-ins in west/central mountain...is that life west of Upper James?....

....As I would say, Typical Mountain Snob....people up there think they're better than people who live in the "Lower City".

Yes, I was paraphrasing his report... I will call on Monday and ask for the November 2012 report on crime for my old living area.

What? You expecting some magic wand waving to suddenly bring back manufacturing jobs that have left North America for Asia? Sorry, that horse has left the barn, and some people in Hamilton need to read the writing on the wall and recognize that it's time to move on and find other opportunities to work in. The days of the steel mills are numbered, even my Dofasco/US Steel working neighbors recognize that and are actively working on backup plans when the inevitable happens.

Terry Whitehead would blow up the lower city if he could.

Medicated is cheaper, and that is why the changes. And the fact Canada can't continue to afford unlimited free healthcare.

Frankly, the US doesn't plan properly. They spend way too much on useless wars, killing people, etc.

If you were just a tad more socialistic it would be the slightest change to the positive.

We certainly dont' have unlimited free healthcare....typical US thinking....here's what is covered:

Doctor visit,
Hospital stay
Medications during the hospital stay...

That's about it. Everything else is pay out of pocket, with some exceptions...eyecare has a freebie I believe every 2 years for people under 18 (this is Ontario, each province is different).

I pay for Dental care, I pay for drug plan, for those who don't have a drug plan, they pay out of their own pocket. Chiropractor, Physiotherapy, etc....so please check your info before you decide to state incorrect info.

A bizzarre twist! It might not have been a homicide. Don't scurry off to Burlington just yet.

said by The Spec :

After speaking to witnesses and neighbours who saw a man stagger up Barnesdale Boulevard with what looked like a knife in his throat, police say their investigation is not leading them to believe this was a homicide.

When I came back from Japan, I was living with family on the mountain. It was nice enough, but the job situation was non existent.

I actually ended up going to an employment center to find something. They were nice, but what they were telling me made no sense (telling me stuff about how hard I'll have to try to find a job).

I have an MA, Tech degree, and experience. Needless to say I left Hamilton to out West, and found a job really quick. Now and I'll only come back to Hamilton to visit.

That whole area is falling apart.
