Re: [DVR] 7232 Slow, Unrepsonsive Until Warms Up or a Reboot

said by nascar:

The issue is related to the channel you leave your box set on last and the box turned off.

These two things, try a different channel and leave the box on is what can be tried now to alleviate the issue.

Once I know more in detail, I will post it.

.....it affects all my boxes regardless of what channels they are on. 4 different people leaving the boxes on random channels and still the issue remains.

I'd be very surprised that with as many people in this thread having the issue that its a specific channel issue.

I have two 7232s. I leave one box on all the time and have the issue. I have also had instances with the other box I leave off all the time, still experiencing the problem to a lesser degree. It's been reported as such.

It may help to leave your boxes on (I do) as I do and do not experience any issues noted in this thread.

Several people in this thread have said they leave them on and still experience it.

What channels are effected? I assume local broadcast and premium channels are not effected.
I also assume ch 131/1952, which is now outdated as it refers to the 1.9.0 guide.would also not be effected.

I would make no such assumptions. Had it happen just the other day changing from a premium to a local - tuner had been sitting on the premium from an earlier recording.

The issue is related to the affected channel your box is left on. If it is left on an affected channel and not changed for a period of 2 hours or more the issue is experienced.

I was told I will have details on workarounds and Firmware deployment dates as they become available.

I will post once I know more.

There will be no updates to the IMG (software) at this time.

Same with me. Leaving the STB on does nothing.

They way I get around this is I never turn my DVR STB off I only turn off the tv, so I don't have this issue.

I do the same thing but still have the problem. It seems long periods of time between inputs triggers the delay.

Ditto. Never turn mine off and I've been experiencing this issues on every box for several weeks now. Usually first thing in the morning or evening when it hasn't been watched in a while. On the positive side, it doesn't appear to effect recordings.

I reset the coax cable and it seems to be working fine right now.

I was told that they need to update it with a IMG update and that wont be until next year

I seem to only have the problem when my guide is set to show subscribed channels only. When I change the guide option to all channels I don't get the channel changing lag.

Also, when the guide is set to subscribed channels I noticed that when I'm in the guide and type 600 it always goes to channel 603 in the guide. It does the same with some other channels. When the guide is set to show all channels it never does this.

My Cisco boxes have never had any issues with a slow guide or changing channels.

But as you can read, Verizon is fixing the issue.

Has this happened to anyone with a cisco Box? I have a Motorola and it is happening. Over on the fios boards, someone suggested that it only happens to motorolas. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks

No wonder I don't experience the issue. I don't turn my 7232's off. But I do turn off the 7100. i guess the 7100 is not affected or we don't watch the affected ad server channels.

Also we did have some type of update on the 2500 hundred stb because on activation, where they used to go to channel 570 and not be able to change the channel without a reset or going to the guide and then changing channels from there the box will now spool as if it is taking a software update and takes as long as 10 min to fully activate and get the guide. This seems to correspond with the dvr issue

This is happening to me too on my QIP7216-1. I also have a QIP7100-2 that hangs up while changing channels. This started after v1.91 was loaded. Before that I had no issues like this. If there isn't a fix soon I may have to dump Fios. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this or does Verizon know about this and are they working on it? I can't take it much more.

Why didn't you read the post at the link I provided a little earlier in this thread before you posted this?
