So, I've been off the forum for a while...

I have been plagued by this crap for a long time. It used to be very intermittent, but now it happens all the time. At least once each day, sometimes more often, this "delay" happens.

Does anyone have any updates on when we can expect a solution?

Has anyone opened a service ticket, escalated to management, and/or found a workaround?

I have an open ticket (but they won't give me an actual ticket number) on the VZ Direct forum. I opened it on 9/16.

The latest news I got from them was on 10/16 after a lot of pleading from me to get an update:
"I am sorry there is no update to the issue. The patch is still in testing, and we don't have a timetable for when it will be released.

Not very promising.

Edit: the night before I have been changing to the channel I know I want to watch in the morning.


I've been having the DVR issue on the 7232. What I found is that even when it won't respond to the box remote, it will respond to the iPhone remote control app without delay. Go figure.

I hope that helps someone.

FYI, a Verizon rep has posted something over on the Verizon Forums that gives a clue of what the problem is, and more importantly a timeframe for when it will be fixed:

issue was inadvertently caused by a new ad deployment system. You should see some improvement in the next 2 weeks as we are disabling this capability on many channels.

We will be deploying a software fix on all your set top boxes between November 26 to January 7 across all FIOS markets which should resolve this issue fully

Beginning Monday the problem will dissipate (probably the new ad system will be disengaged). But as stated on the Vz forum it will take longer to be fully corrected. It will be corrected with a Firmware update.

The issue is not with the IMG but an interaction with the Firmware on the boxes. So a new Firmware had to be developed and is now being tested. It will be deployed in the next few months.

I often hear people confuse Firmware and Software, so for those that want to understand the difference between Firmware (7232) and Software (IMG)...

Ya know... this really pisses me off. They take forever to update the software, claiming "testing". Then, they release junk anyway.

Then... the whole process starts over again!

It's a good thing they keep raising rates. They should make more money for putting out such a quality product.

This is happening to me too on my QIP7216-1. I also have a QIP7100-2 that hangs up while changing channels. This started after v1.91 was loaded. Before that I had no issues like this. If there isn't a fix soon I may have to dump Fios. Does anyone know if there is a fix for this or does Verizon know about this and are they working on it? I can't take it much more.

They way I get around this is I never turn my DVR STB off I only turn off the tv, so I don't have this issue.

Also we did have some type of update on the 2500 hundred stb because on activation, where they used to go to channel 570 and not be able to change the channel without a reset or going to the guide and then changing channels from there the box will now spool as if it is taking a software update and takes as long as 10 min to fully activate and get the guide. This seems to correspond with the dvr issue

No wonder I don't experience the issue. I don't turn my 7232's off. But I do turn off the 7100. i guess the 7100 is not affected or we don't watch the affected ad server channels.

My Cisco boxes have never had any issues with a slow quide or changing channels.

I seem to only have the problem when my guide is set to show subscribed channels only. When I change the guide option to all channels I don't get the channel changing lag.

Also, when the guide is set to subscribed channels I noticed that when I'm in the guide and type 600 it always goes to channel 603 in the guide. It does the same with some other channels. When the guide is set to show all channels it never does this.

I reset the coax cable and it seems to be working fine right now.

I was told that they need to update it with a IMG update and that wont be until next year

Ditto. Never turn mine off and I've been experiencing this issues on every box for several weeks now. Usually first thing in the morning or evening when it hasn't been watched in a while. On the positive side, it doesn't appear to effect recordings.
