Issue seems to have been resolved. All accounts accessible (via telnet and email client), for first time since Sunday afternoon.

Hey SteveE: I got the same email sent to my BB acct. saying my acct needed validating. When I type in my password it says that my password is invalid. Have you been able to get service on your BB yet? If so, what did you do? Its frustrating to say the least.

I just went on the Cogeco site this morning, having got some emails through but only on one of our accounts. They are now saying there is 'NO outage in Ontario' - yeah, right.

I've been having problems with my cogeco both sending and receiving since Friday, August 24, 2012 mid-afternoon. The incorrect password (MS Outlook) or cannot connect to server (Android phone) started appearing and still appears on one or more of my cogeco mail accounts. Can't believe they haven't been able to rectify the problem even as of this morning.

I have been generally very happy with my cogeco internet and email over the past 10 or more years but have never had anything worse than a few hours of internet outage from a severed hard line in the neighbourhood. This is not typical from my experiences to date.

Hey Finner nope I'm still getting the same message on my Blackberry. My one email account came across overnight but the other one is still giving me the same error message on my BB. On a side note, the day before my email issues I received about 650 email messages that had been stored on the Cogeco server (all old and dated emails). I got 2 "dumps" of these old emails over the day...That was kind of strange

Still not working as of 9:10 Tuesday morning. This is extremely frustrating. My iphone tells me that the password is incorrect and my computers give me a number of errors when I log in. I am hoping that Cogeco will do a refund of some kind when this is all through. Never in a million years did I think it would take this long.

Some improvement in that some accounts connected and some emails came through. But it is hit or miss - still will get say 3 of 5 accounts giving error messages as all accounts are synced. Sometimes can get one of those with an error to sync if I sync it by itself.

It would be good if someone from Cogeco could explain this. This is as bad as the BB outage that occurred a while back. Surely there should be backup systems that avoid this type of fiasco?

BTW - I am retired and most emails are not that important or time sensitive. But when I was working, this email crash would have been a disaster for me. Feel for those using Cogeco for business.

We did too - on all 4 accounts - at least 3 - 4 times over the week preceding the outage - I thought it was our Outlook - even went in to server and manually deleted older messages thinking there was a corrupt msg somewhere - strange thing was we have our server set to 5 days storage - there were messages from at least 10 to 12 days reappearing. But of course, when we called at that point - it was on 'our end' or 'our PC' or 'our router' - it never seems to be them - but in the end it always IS them.

Still out in Niagara Falls. We were able to retrieve some emails but fromm only 1 of my 4 accounts. The outage form on the Cogeco website shows no issues. Someone needs to rectify this. I would suggest Cogeco also offer a credit to all it's affected customers. If Cogeco reps are reading this please investigate. 3 days is much too long to be without email. Especially for those who rely on email for work or emergency reasons.

Very erratic emails. Worked at 5:00AM, now sometimes does and sometimes not! Still asking for username/password.
Yet, shows no outage in St. Catharine's. hmmmm???

My email worked this morning around 7:30am and I got around 5 emails which is around 25% of what I usually get and now at 9:20 it's back to the password garbage again.

Gee lets see wait on the phone for 30 minutes or more to be told nothing and get a 4 day rebate on my internet worth maybe $6!! Ya I think I will pass.

Now that you mention the message dumps - my wife had the same thing happen late last week on her account - a very busy email account. Three days worth of deleted messages were resent to her. This happened once a while ago and it was suggested it was her mail client (Thunderbird) or an overloaded mailbox (TBird not deleting messages from the server often enough).

Strange! Outage page states username/password error, yet 9:00AM update on Facebook says there's NO PROBLEM!
But the problem remains in St. Catharine's!

Yet I still cannot use several of my accounts.

Mine is still down too. It is 9:44am on Tuesday August 28th. I got thte server 503 unavailable message on webmail and a mail delivery error on Outlook.
