 | [DVR] Latest Comcast DVR Hi. My current DVR is being replaced this week. I want to make sure that I get the latest model, rather than whatever the tech has in his truck. What is the latest model DVR being used by Comcast? Tx. |

What type market (Motorola or SA/Cisco) are you in? Some areas (Boston, Augusta or Atlanta) have started deploying Pace X1 boxes. Some areas (Boston and San Francisco) have stated working woth TiVo boxes that allow users to watch Comcast VOD. andyrossPremium,MVM join:2003-05-04 Schaumburg, IL | reply to bmfc1 Do you currently have a Motorola box, and if so, what model? The latest Motorola's are the DCX series, although all run the same software. The main difference is a bit better speed and usually the most storage (DCX's may be 250, 320, or 500G).
Comcast is also starting to use RNG naming for all boxes, even if they are made for different markets. Confusing.
The X1 is in very limited release in a few cities to NEW users with TRIPLE play. |

 | Montgomery county is near washington/baltimore which I think is mostly motorola. |

 | reply to bmfc1 If Comcast is offering you Cisco RNG 200N DVR in your area, then it is great. The RNG 200N DVR gives you multi-stream cable card with support of conditional access. Even there is the feature of PIP which allows you to watch two separate videos in a single screen. But from various users, there is a complaint that the DVR doesnt show the list of the programs which are there on the TV.
So chances are there that you may have to call your Comcast customer care and ask them to send their technician to solve this problem. Some of the DVR systems have this software problem of not showing the list of the programs. Officials from the Comcast have said that they are looking into this matter and the errors will be rectified. |

 | Thanks everyone. I had a Motorola DCX3400. The guy at the "Executive Care Team" is positive that this is still the current model. |

1 edit | Actually, Comcast is using an even later (Moto) model, the DCX3501 - which is what I got about 3+ months ago. Other than (the box) being a little smaller, & missing a couple of A/V connectors, not really much different than the DCX3400... |
