[IN] Peak time issues once again

Yup, it's this old chestnut again. The speeds during the evening are tanking once again. Speeds are all over the place. Videos in my online class are extremely choppy and unwatchable. Every once in a while pages are even timing out. It appears to be the same issue I had previously mentioned that never got resolved but instead was blamed on a signal issue.

These constant issues are really getting tiresome. Is it too much to ask for to have service that actually works as expected and what we pay for?

The pings times you are showing are good until they get outside of our network. You are also using a wireless router. What speeds do you get without the router?

80+ms just past the CMTS is not fine IMO. Something is wrong with 172.30.35.41...

Unfortunately I'm unable to directly connect the router to the computer at the moment, but speeds are okay now, since it is past peak times.

Exactly! This has been going on for months now at that hop. This is NOT happening on my network or even to the headend. I believe if there were utilization issues or router issues hop 2 would show high latency which it is not.

hope 2 is the modem the next addy should be the node then the next the headend

The modem and node don't route, so they don't show up in a traceroute. In this trace, hop 1 is the router, and 2 is the CMTS (headend). 3, 4, and 5 are Mediacom's internal network, and it jumps onto ATT at 6.

Correct, and with a 172.xx.xx.xx, that would appear the be Mediacoms.

I guess this issue will never get fixed. Latency and speeds are a utter garbage.

Why is this still going on? Latency is through the roof, speeds are all over the place, and lately hop 2, assuming the headend, is no longer traceable. Now it's impossible to tell if the issues are local or still at hop 3.

What does the ping graph look like during off peak hours?
You posted a speed test showing normal condition, but no traceroute...

I would've thought the Ping Plotter graph would suffice, but nevertheless, here it is:

Arn't all hops/routers that start with a 172 IP addy as in hop # 3 4 above Mediacoms?
