Re: The end to not so great era is today! Some of us don't play pures, and prefer to keep two actual specs instead of "brb need to drop Deep Wounds and get Piercing Howl for this one". |

|
Nick DPremium join:2010-02-04 Orange, CA | I think Weapon Damage is getting buffed in general.
I wouldn't worry too much about it, because so many things changed that the relative power of stats are going to make things whacky to begin with. |
|
DarkLogixTexan and ProudPremium join:2008-10-23 Baytown, TX kudos:3 | I'm more thinking about the stat sticks
without a ranged slot mages/locks/ and priests lose some intel (and other stats)
So I'm wondering if they buffed those stats on other items or what to make up for the lost slot? |

Bahamut XPremium join:2000-12-09 Fort Worth, TX | From what I remember of the PTR:
Stats on my warlocks staff were the same, can double check later.
So they potentially buffed the stats on 86+ gear, but currently... "so sorry buttercup".
Hell, as long as my staff can still proc Chaos Bolt duplicates... -- I work at T-Mobile. I play games and enjoy time off of work. I've been a member here longer than I've worked there. I have my own opinions, they do not hold anything to T-Mobile USA, etc etc etc... |

Nick DPremium join:2010-02-04 Orange, CA | Well, yeah. Losing very large stat sticks was a big deal compared to losing a wand.
That said, no more Kiril is sad pandas for the hunters in the audience. |

DarkLogixTexan and ProudPremium join:2008-10-23 Baytown, TX kudos:3 | reply to Bahamut X Well I figure it'll mess up reforges, the dagger off Maddness doesn't have hit.
We'll potentially lose hit/crit/haste/ect |
|
Bahamut XPremium join:2000-12-09 Fort Worth, TX | reply to Jodokast I actually get to have a little fun with hit...
Right now at the (Cata current) caster hit (17% or whatever the bloody hell it is)... Tomorrow I get to reforge down to the new Panda-limit (15%)...
My wand isn't worth 2% hit I think (at work, can't really check). This should be interesting.
And with the change to the T13 4pc I can actually contemplate breaking the set bonus early in favor of better gear. -- I work at T-Mobile. I play games and enjoy time off of work. I've been a member here longer than I've worked there. I have my own opinions, they do not hold anything to T-Mobile USA, etc etc etc... |

DarkLogixTexan and ProudPremium join:2008-10-23 Baytown, TX kudos:3 | Whats the T13 change? |
|
Bahamut XPremium join:2000-12-09 Fort Worth, TX | Pulling this out of memory, so no numbers are going to be here.
(Warlock Tier 13 4pc)
Old: Use of Soul Burn would grant x over y seconds. Using Soul Fire would refund the shard.
New: Grant certain spells x% damage boost.
Old used to be a nice DPS cooldown. New is really meh.
Now I have to check on my paladins T13 bonuses... and/or lrn2tank/dps again... -- I work at T-Mobile. I play games and enjoy time off of work. I've been a member here longer than I've worked there. I have my own opinions, they do not hold anything to T-Mobile USA, etc etc etc... |

Read that and tell me how noob friendly it is...Of course anyone can look at the graph and tell which column is longer, but deciding if that particular column is right for your specific situation is where the decision making process comes into play. As a matter of fact, read all the posts in Twintop's blog discussing spec analysis and tell me what you, DarkLogix, Grandmaster of Wizadry, think about it all. -- McBrain#1558 - Barbarian/Monk

Ya anyone can toss 7 selections and have a usable spec. |
|
DarkLogixTexan and ProudPremium join:2008-10-23 Baytown, TX kudos:3 | So anyone else open the launcher this morning just to let it do its thing so it'd be ready in the evening?
I first deleted the 3 files for 64bit (just in case so it wouldn't have to repair or any crap) then opened the launcher.
as 64bit is now part of MoP it created new versions of those 3 by the time it had finished updating. |

McBrainBRB Face Melting join:2010-05-06 Kalimdor kudos:2 | reply to DarkLogix said by DarkLogix:Ya anyone can toss 7 selections and have a usable spec. It's honestly not any different now...if I put 41 points in one tree my spec would be usable...it's kind of the whole purpose of making someone spend 31 before they can dip into another one.
But, if you're serious about raiding, you'll not only do the research to find the 'best' spec, you'll understand why it is the 'best'. In the link I posted for you above, about 3% separates the 'best' Shadow spec from the 'worst' Shadow spec in an Ultraxion style fight (Defined by SimCraft as an encounter where substantial time is spent casting, periodically interrupted by small amounts of time not casting.). Three percent doesn't seem like a lot, does it? But lets say your 10 man raid group is trying to progress through t14 content for realm first kills...In fight A, an Ultraxion style encounter, everyone is using the 'worst' build for their respective class/spec, resulting in 285,932,360 damage or 781,236 raid damage per second...this attempt is a wipe, and your raid leader tells everyone to do some research and make improvements. Your group comes back the next night respec'ed and ready to go. Through research, the dps in your group all discover their 'best' build...which, on paper, is 3% better than the previous. That 3% translates into 294,775,629 damage, 805,398 raid dps, and ultimately, purple pixels for a couple of people. Incase you're bad with math, that's almost 9 million more damage.
You take your 6 or 7 guys that "toss 7 selections and have a usable spec", I'll take my 6 or 7 guys that chose the spec that yeilds the best results, and let's see who is more successful.
And don't argue the fact that you aren't serious about raiding. A simple forum search will prove that you are.
As a matter of fact, most of us on here would have a hard time convincing our bosses that we are more serious about our jobs than WoW, based on the amount of time we spend on this site. -- McBrain#1558 - Barbarian/Monk
