All my pings look normal.

You might want to post up some traces with pingplotter showing where the issues are.

Hello Intoxicoded. Please perform a traceroute to one of the game servers you see the problem to, while you're having the problem and post it. That should tell us about where the latency is coming from.

Awful latency in Central TX this evening on an unloaded line with good signal levels.

You're picking up SOME latency outside of the SL network. Nothing too much they can do about that beyond possibly letting the outside carrier know.

theres something wrong with their consistency of service. it has been a problem for awhile now, and suddenlink just disregards the issue. thats why they took off the consistency results when you run a speed test at speedtest.wv.suddenlink.net. i think when they did thier recent updates they messed it up, but to try to hide the fact theres something wrong, maybe it was intentional. before the udate i always had 10.6mbs, 99% consistency it was perfect unless i had faulty modem which when replaced worked great again. Now with the 15mbs speed update i actually get arange of 16.2mbs-17.4mbs(of about 20.6mbs) and anywhere from 30%-85% consistency of service. It does effect the way game play is, videos, and downloads.

Two nights in a row in central TX, ping times regularly hitting 400-500 ms to the local gateway with no traffic on the line and great signal levels (40 SNR down).

Bummer man. I wonder if it is some type of noise ingress into the system during that time of day recently. Hope you can get someone to check it out, and that they can find the issue.

Good luck, keep us posted.

No help from rebooting my modem (SB5120), but telling it to reset its config and then rebooting pulled down new downstream and upstream channels. Ping times to the local gateway are 7 ms and no congestion with full speeds.

I guess some channels are better than others.

There in lies the benefit of a Doc 3 modem even on slower tiers. Able to sync on more tiers.

Also interesting to note that, on my modem atleast, there is 1 channel that shows around DOUBLE the traffic as the other 3 I'm synced to. Would hate to be stuck on that channel alone!

Which modem is that? Looking at 8-channel D3 modems now, and the interesting features (like stat pages) are rarely documented.

1 recommendation

I have the 6120. Don't really see the need in 8 channels personally since i'll likely never pay for a tier actually needing it anytime soon.

As far as I know though, stats pages are standard on all consumer modems, just have to figure out the ip
