Re: iGuide A30

Also FINALLY fixes the issue with the HDMI output resetting to 720p if components were turned on in the wrong order with my AVR between the DCX-3400 and my TV!

Sweet lord. Every day, every time I turn the TV on I have to manually reset the resolution on our main TV in the house.

If A30 fixes that - yay.

also why no CLTV HD?? does CLTV SD when it's be used for CSN + SD show the watch in HD pop up?

Why not be like RCN and make it CLTV sd and CLTV HD be used for CSN + and CSN + HD.

and this tiresome, constant, repeating repeat has ANYTHING to do with the topic, how???

I think this is probably more of a related firmware update rather than A30 itself.

A30 is now showing up in the Comcast Michigan market. Specifically the Northville/Canton/Plymouth area, in Metro Detroit.

It looks like this article is talking about the A30 update:

Comcast quietly updates DVRs with ability to list stored programs from the web, mobile apps

?? isn't that just the standard DVR manager? Maybe they are talking about the Cisco version of iGuide being updated?

No, in the article it says "We noticed the change after our Motorola DVR got an update ..."

Got the a30 guide lastnight here in Roseville,MI
S/W VER: 80.47 - a30.1205.r-25
Firmware: 24.37

This is on my DCX 3400.
Haven't played with it much, but the zoom buttom works, but only on HD channels. Seems to me it should work on SD, thats when I need it??? Oh well.....

JoeJoeJeo - Do you have any info on when the A30 guide will be released in the Atlanta market?

Any update to the guide would be nice since Comcast will not allow me to upgrade to the X1 receiver...

Thanks.

Why can't they just push it out to everyone at once? This makes no sense.

And then you have millions of pissed off customers if something goes wrong. They tend to start with a very small area to look for major bugs. Then expand to find more bugs.

Also, in some cases, there could be changes needed at the head ends to support certain features.

How do you tell what version of the guide you have?

No offense Andy, as I love chatting with you, but Comcast has used this method every time they have launched any guide software and it's still always loaded with bugs. I really think the point is moot. I think the real reason they don't push more areas at the same time is that their infrastructure is so unorganized and old that they first can't coordinate their efforts and second when they finally due I think the hardware fails.

The S26 Guide update for SA/Cisco STBs is the perfect example of this. It was deployed to about 12% of Comcast's SA/Cisco STB customers before it was halted in September to fix bugs. It is scheduled to restart being deployed this month. The deployment was scheduled to be finished this year, but now the deployment is scheduled to end in early 2013.

The S25 Guide deployment also had to be stopped to fix bugs.

It may depend on the level of the bug, too. They may also be getting a bit more careful given the SA issues Russ mentioned. I think A28 may have rushed out despite some bugs because they were on a timeline to announce certain features, like MyDVR.

Has anyone that has A30 actually tried this reported feature:
Ability to directly play a completed recording from the customers DVR through your XFINITY TV online account.

I'm mostly excited about A30 for this feature, but I haven't seen anyone actually comment on using it (making me wonder if it's really included)

they told me that it is not initially turned on there website would have to be partly rewritten and they dont have the servers setup at the capacity to the customers who are going to get A30. they will first get the servers up and running and tested before they turn on the feature on the website

This is not true. The feature enables you to use your XFINITY TV online account to start a DVR recording on your TV just like you can change a channel. You will NOT be able to watch DVR recordings anywhere but on your TV.
