Re: Linksys EA6500

Cisco/Linksys wont get me this time with their so called next "flagship" router. I am still rocking my "flagship" Linksys E4200 V1 that has had HORRIBLE firmware support. And they still have not released a new version that fixes outstanding bugs. Which it looks to be EOL support wise just over a year of being out. Cisco/Linksys solution? Release new versions of the router. The E4200 V2 and E4500 have not been out that long. And here they are releasing another new router this soon. See the pattern? Release new hardware on a consistent bases instead of supporting previous models with proper firmware.

By the looks of this, they are just adding it to their lineup not replacing the E4200 + E4500

It's an AC Router, so you would have to have devices with AC adapters to take advantage of the greater speeds.

I want to know the onboard RAM and Flash amount, and processor speed. The E4200v2 and EA4500 have a 1.2GHz processor and 128MB of both RAM and Flash.

Processor speed doesn't mean jack here when you're comparing 2 different types of chipsets. E4200v1 uses a Broadcom chip at 480MHz, E4200V2 is a Marvel 1.2GHz yet it does 1/3 the WAN-LAN throughput.

And the only reason the flash amount is so large on the newer version is the ugly Cisco Connect Cloud firmware requires so much, hence why the Cloud firmware was never ported to the 4200V1 with 16MB flash. See the Cisco community forums for more details on that.

Alright?
I think the extra memory and/or processor speed was regarding the desire to increase the USB read/write or maybe because it supports 450Mbps on both the 2.4 and 5.8 GHz ranges?
