nfgbrian posted : I don't think it really matters which pair you use, just have to make sure the colors on both ends match up for the NID and the phone jack. Those line stats still don't look that good to me. Did you try connecting the modem directly to the test jack? If it's fine at the NID then I would assume that there is a problem on Frontier's lines outside of the house. Is the cat5e cable you are using now in good condition? Your SNR on line 1 is at 0.

nfgbrian posted : Sounds like the same problem I was having with the lower line stats even though you are close to the CO. I'd probably do the same thing I did and plug the modem straight into the test jack at the NID and see what your line stats are and what speed you sync at. If it works better and your line stats are higher then it's most likely an internal wiring problem. If it doesn't help at all then there is something on Frontier's end that needs to be fixed. Might as well give it a shot and see if it helps you at all. Running a new line was actually a pretty easy process.

staregazer posted : I got my ADSL2+ bonded connection installed yesterday. I initially got 21 MB down and 1.7 MB up but since got anywhere from 10-17 MB down but upload has been hovering around 1.5 MB. I have talked to tech support. Resetting the modem got me from 10 MB back up to 17.5 MB My speed a few hours later has dropped back down to 14.5 MB and it is in the middle of the night so I doubt there is that much overcrowding on their backhaul this time of night.

They had to run a new line to my house since my old one was one pair and two pairs were required since they were bonding it at the home.

When calling Frontier inquiring about some things they told me that VDSL only requires one line but bonded ADSL2+ requires two lines.

The technician told me that the guy that originally installed the first DSLAM (there are three across the road from me) that he did not provision them right (I was one of them) but they fixed the issue later on.
Smith6612 posted : Those two lines almost look like they're suffering from crosstalk from one another, or ADSL1 is on a bad pair. I would expect to see 17Meg/1Meg coming out of those lines with FastPath holding an SNR of about 10-12dB with also a lower transmit power. The attenuation is much too low for the speed on ADSL1 to be that low or for the power to be that high and not get the speed you're looking for. Do those statistics improve out at the NID when you connect both circuits up? The good news is they are both using ADSL2+ so that makes you capable of 24Mbps/1.5Mbps theoretical. If Frontier starts using Annex. M, with a hit potentially on the downstream as it pushes frequencies higher up into the band you could potentially see 24Mbps/3.3Mbps per line. Of course at that point, you'd rather set up VDSL/VDSL2 as it does practically the same thing, despite having less available modems.

Also, for a VDSL modem to work on an ADSL DSLAM and vice versa, the equipment the appropriate end must support falling back to another standard.
staregazer posted : I contacted them a week or so ago and was told that I cannot get it. My friend that lives a quarter mile down the road along with myself called in the past few days and were told that we could get it and got an appointment for a technician to come out to install the service. Is there a chance that they could have been wrong and that we cannot get the 24 MB service? (They said it was 24 MB not 25 MB).

I would like to try Frontier again,but I already know the product I have right now and Earthlink's speeds will be the same as Time Warner minus the Powerboost gimmick. At least now that Frontier has boosted speeds here I can possibly use them as a negotiating tool with Time Warner. I have to think about this for a bit...
--
Obama = Epic Fail
