I don't believe the story at all, but it is still a good story.

I can understand the whole hanging up the game thing after an incident like that. The author did a good job conveying the emotional toll of something like that.

Read the whole thing, enjoyed it immensly.

I totally understand the ending though, when you don't have something the desire for it burns through you night and day.

Once he finally got it though, his goals had been met and the game didn't really have anything else to offer.

Had it been me, I would have sent all the credits back to Hardhead though.

Yeah, I would have done the same. It's one thing to scam some of the corporations, but not your partner who helped you get there.

The story makes me wonder what EVE was really like and how sandboxed/hand-held all the current MMOs are.

I suppose it depends on what kind of game you are interested in. From the sounds of it, Eve is all about making money.

I dont really find that to be very exciting. I mean, spending X minutes mining an asteroid is not really how I want to spend my time, or waiting outside warp gates for the possibility of some guy to come through and maybe get his shipment?

I like my mining to be completed in three swings of a pick axe, just like real life.

Forget about the smaller/repetitive characteristics of the game and look at the larger picture. The environment he painted out in his little story sounded rather fantastic.

I would love it if our little DSLR group could come together and fucking do something other than play single player games in an MMO environment where the only thing that connects us is guild chat.

Yea, Ive noticed that, specifically in GW2. Although the game is fresh and we are all still star struck at everything to do/explore/discover.

The flip side to that coin though is that Eve (from my experiences and discussions with players of the game) is a significant time investment.

At least with WoW/LoL/GW2 we can jump on for 45 minutes an hour and get something accomplished.

Game is complicated as hell. But let me help you with the story here...

Let me know if I should keep going.

Oh how glorious that would be....I've seriously thought about doing it with like a paint gun.

Hear me out.

Get a turret with different colors of paint balls, that you could change on the fly in some fashion. Then when ppl cut you off, shoot em with pinks, don't use blinker...hit em with blues, driving slow in the fast lane and won't get over....unleash every fucking round it has.

The hard part is getting them the key to the colors so they know what they did....still working on that part.

Dude...my friend Chuck used to do that with pennies. No shit...he'd grab a handful from the ashtray and fling em out the sunroof or the side window, if ppl tailgated, or he'd speed up and get in front of them if they pissed him off in some other fashion.

How he never got busted for that, I'll never know.

I used pennies as well. Now that I'm more calm, I just use my windshield wiper fluid. It works on every vehicle I've driven so far. If someone is driving too close, just start unleashing the wiper fluid onto your windshield. Guaranteed you'll see the person behind you turning on their wipers. This requires highway speeds.

I'd love to get one of those scrolling LED things that small shops put in there windows and such. Have it hooked to a small keyboard and mounted in the back window, so I could type in custom messages to the deserving bag of douche.

My brother had something similar to one of these:

Field & Stream 2 Million Candlepower Rechargeable Spotlight
He mounted it in the back of his truck with a cigarette lighter plug. He left it unplugged unless someone tailgated him. All he had to do was plug it in for half a second and the person behind him backed off.
