I want to move to this house but I would like to know what this cable is first. I was told by the city that it is a Century Link telecom cable but I would like to know if it is fiber optics or POTS. Do you know?
reply to erin Without a better picture it is hard to tell but from here it looks like a copper it may have an over lashing but hard to tell from the picture.
The boot is a splice point on the line and or a tap point for individual telephone drops to be connected to
reply to erin As others have posted pretty hard to tell but looks like ordinary multipair copper cable.
To research this some more check the line out over a longer distance. If fiber see Orange jacket identifying it as fiber optic cable.
Fiber has stringent bend radius. If you see something that looks like a snowshoe attached to the cable that is pretty good indication you are looking at fiber, or at least fiber overlashed to a copper
