[Need Info] HTC Evo Design 4G

Hey,

I am looking into purchasing a (used) sprint HTC EVO Design for use outside the US. the network I would like to use it on supports only UMTS 850/2100 (3g). the older "regular" GSM networks are not supported but this provider. can someone please let me know if i put my providers sim card in this phone if it will work.

thanks.

Sprint phones as well as Verizon phones don't use SIM cards as they use the CDMA band and don't work on the GSM network frequencies you want to use this phone on.

You'll need to search for an unlocked GSM phone that supports the 850/2100 mhz band for 3G usage. The benefit is an unlocked GSM phone will work in over 220 countries as long as it is a quad-band phone.

The Evo Design is a world phone, there's a slot for a SIM card underneath the battery cover.

According to the Evo Design's page on Phone Arena, it appears this phone is indeed compatible with the network you are looking to use it on.

The EVO design is sim locked and will not accept anything but a Sprint sim for international roaming out of the box. It can be unlocked but I'm not sure of what has to be done to get there. I have a Motorola Photon 4g that works with overseas sim cards.
