restricted numbers

A few of my friends tell me that when they call my MJ no. they get a message saying the no. is restricted and when they hit *82 the call gets through. What is this and how do I get rid of it?

[Your friends] are blocking their numbers! When they press *82 it unblocks on a per-call basis.

[You] are blocking anonymous calls. That's why your friends' calls don't get through to you.

PX: At least 9 mos ago MJ started blocking calls from any phones without identifiable caller-ids. This is by design but I can't imagine why customers would put up with this 'stupid phone trick'.

Really? That's nuts... I left them in Jan or Feb because of all the exchanges they blocked me from calling. This just backs up my decision.
