Re: slower speeds - Dish Alignment / Beam Designations

Does the Rx SNR number vary a lot. We had the same weather over the weekend and mine was at around 6.0 dB. Now it is as 8.4 dB. My download/upload speeds over the weekend were 0.18 Mb/s down and 0.16 up. On average it has been 1.84 down and 0.36 up.

Ask xPlornet to 're-register your Surfbeam modem. The modem can occasionally go into basic install mode which provides only a slow connection to let the installer register it to your speed package.

Re: slower speeds - Dish Alignment / Beam Designations - SNR

Speed drops off when the SNR drops to around 6.5 or lower. My SNR is almost always over 10. Cloud cover is usually not a problem with reception. My SNR is currently 8.6 with some heavy weather coming in from west and my speeds are still close to package speeds (3Mbps/500Kbps).

Still getting .7- 2.2Mbps today with heavy overcast and SNR down at 4.4 dB.
