How to test Rear CV joints?

Hello all .. I am curious.. I know how to tell if front CV joints are going bad (clunking, etc), but how in the heck do you inspect rear CV joints for failure? (2001 Subaru outback).

I'm no expert, if it was my car, I would:
1. lift the car and put it on jacks.
2. inspect the rear CV joints for visible damage, split boots, leaks etc.
3. try moving a tire and listening for excess noise, grinding, cracking, etc.
4. see if one side is loose compared to the other, look for excess play, etc.
