9" Fire can compete w iPad given Amazon media availability

The new Kindle Fire HD 8.9" version(WiFi only or LTE) can successfully compete with the current iPad v3 VERSIONS(WiFi only or 3G). The price is better and the Amazon cheap or free media makes it a definite competitor. And the yearly data plan for LTE is a nice bonus for the Kindle.

We'll have to see if Apple announces any upgrades next week to the iPad as well as a new LTE iPhone.

Uh oh.. They're getting close to Apple's PPI, so it might be almost like an iPad. Looks like Apple's sue happy team will be paying Amazon a visit because we can't have anything remotely close to an iPad available to consumers.

They were probably smart enough to license any patented tech.

I doubt the 10 ppi difference is noticeable unless you stick your face right against the screen.

They won't. I can barely tell the difference between my TF700T's 224PPI and my iPad 3 and definitely can't at 1/2-3/4 arm's distance. There is no way you are going to notice 10PPI when you get that dense.

The difference, if any, will be in the quality of the panel, brightness, any backlight bleed etc.

Amazon has stepped up big time but it isn't Apple who should be nervous, it's all the other sub-$300 tablet guys like Samsung and Asus who offer virtually identical platforms.

The Android market is saturated with products just like the phone space. It is really hard to carve yourself out marketshare and Amazon has the weight of its retail business behind it.
