Re: Georgia ETA..??I'm on the phone now with Windstream business office and will see what they can do about my monthly bill until they fix this problems. If they say $47 is the lowest they can go I'm getting my service dropped and they can come get their stuff.
It's pathetic that I even have to ask for this. I know when I requested the 12g line they never said there were problems in my area, they just accepted my order and were perfectly happy collecting my money even though I can't even reach 1g of service, more like 600mb. |

I read here to ask for "customer retention". They seem to have more authority. Sorry I have not read all your posts but have you had a tech to you house?
As thrilled as I am that a tech fixed my years long issue (and why did the other techs not?). I am po'd that everyones not getting fixed with me. I'm also afraid this fix wont last. |

The good part is my service just started so I haven't paid a bill yet. I'm in my second month and I told the account specialist yesterday that I'm not paying a dime for service I can't use. The cost to hook up my service and provide the modem is on them since they didn't disclose the issue prior to agreeing to accept my business. She said she would look up issuing me a credit and a reduced monthly payment until the service is repaired and would call me back late yesterday or early this morning. Still waiting. |

Barrow County, GA. Over the last few weeks, speeds have dropped horribly to the point of being essentially unusable.
As of right now:
Speedtest.net: 1.3 Mbps down, .64 Mbps up, 17ms ping Speakeasy.net ATL server - .40 Mbps down, .62 up. Speakeasy.net Seattle - .3 down, .6 up Speakeasy.net New York - .3/.6 DSLreports.com - NJ server, .43 down, .6 up DSLreports.com - VA server (Comcast), .5 down, .6 up
All consistent results. I assume we're in the problem area? We're very near Jefferson. |

For a couple of years I had reliable 12mb service, but since early August this is the usual speed I get from Windstream, except for rare occasions during the day when I might get a short timeframe of good speed (which never lasts long.) They know what the problem is, but they are totally indifferent to the needs of their customers. CSR's know nothing except 'for a latency problem exists' and 'a plan to fix sometime in the near future'. Meanwhile, we continue to be billed for services not delivered. |

I'm so fed up of there service its getting worse and worse like i cant play ant games, no videos nothing this is ridiculous i need to find out if this is legal. i cant be paying $50 for less than 80% of what i should be getting.. i called them earlier to talk to a supervisor or manager to see if they will take some money off my bill i sat on hold for 45mins then they hung up i believe b/c call ended.. |

If you're going to call you need to call between 8 and 5 for GA customer service. It's all handled through the "cable" department for GA customers. I had to call myself today and actually spoke with a CSR that gave a damn at least enough to issue me some credit.

Maybe Aaron can answer why our service is getting worse in Ga instead of getting better? |

I'm dropping service constantly. I've asked for support privately from Aaron and received a call from a technician. It hasn't done any good though. I only get 0.63Mbps down and 0.61Mbps up and it has been that way for all of January so far with numerous service interruptions both night and day.
I hate the alternative company but at least maybe I can do my job with them. |

Re: Georgia ETA..??My understanding is that you will see fluctuations as new equipment is tested, installed and brought online. As to why your speeds are and service are actually getting worse, I really wish I could say for sure. There are a number of possibilities. But my assumption is that the usage in the area is still increasing, or people are getting online earlier and using the BW they would normally use later in the day. I really do wish I had the answer to that.

So I asked in the direct forum about an update to my area. Today a tech comes to the house for some reason but unfortunately I'm in FL and wasn't really expecting a tech visit, so my dad told them the only issue we have is the peek time slowdowns. Well he tested the line at the DMARC and then persumeably to the DSLAM then he came back and explained that it was a latency outage (No Shit) anyways no was online or had any reason to be online till well after the tech left but I get a phone call because the internet was down after some over the phone trouble shooting turns out the modem can no long establish a PPP connection..
TL;DR
Checked on status of Peaktime slowdowns Tech Get scheduled to visit, unknowingly to me. Tech manages to kill the whole connection. No internet for at least the night. |

Should be called a legacy outage, equipment so old you only get legacy packets and not many of those. |

Well they got back to me in direct, apparently me asking for an update to a known outage caused some tech somewhere to look at my line and change some setting that now only allows PPPoE connections, I have been using PPPoA (or PPPoE at will) for years and it worked great until someone made a change that would have no damn positive effect on my service and of course I'm out of town until 2/7. |

Looks like there is hope for me after all... No not that Windstream will fix the network but the local cable company seems to be removing an old dormant cable network and replacing it with their own, I really hope that soon I can dump Windstream, even if they fix it I'm gone at the first chance. |
