Re: Georgia ETA..??I recently received an update from a colleague of mine out in that area. Apparently work is being done to condition many of the lines in that area. Please send us a PM with the phone number involved and Pat, Larissa or myself will take a look and get back to you with specifics asap.

Went to Speakeasy.net as you suggested, and got the following results:
Your Speed Result: Download Speed: 210 kbps (26.3 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 615 kbps (76.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
By any measure, from any speed test site, these results are unacceptable when I'm paying for 12MB service. |

Hope it's cause of work being done.. But had no connection at all this morning.. Fingers crossed |

Here's a test just concluded using the tools here at DSLR. Nothing has changed. Pages are loading like they did when we used a 9600 baud modem. |

It's nice to know that the slow speeds are speedtest.net's fault and not Windstream's! Here I was thinking that the inability to load images on a page, check my email, constant lag outs, inability to stream videos, etc. was due to my connection being really, really slow and crappy. But it's good to know that it's speedtest.net being inaccurate.
Do you guys do some kind of rolling blackouts for service so that you can pretend to fix a problem while cutting service in other areas? I get a month or two of decent, though not 100%, speed, then, out of no where, I'm sitting at below 1mbps with totally sporadic data rates (graphs that look like saw teeth). This is a pretty regular thing. I could actually use a 1mbps connection that was steady, but constantly dropping out makes it useless. At least you're taking my money.
Edit: Sorry. I was angry. I know that it's not the customer service peoples' fault and you're all probably getting a lot of grief from frustrated customers. I have always been really happy with and treated well by the CSRs I've talked to. I know that there is only so much you can do and I should save the sarcasm. |

said by Bashlin:no internet again today, seriously.. can this be fixed or not..?? It was pointed out in another thread that wholesale customers get moved to the new equipment first, then Windstream customers. If you did switch though, you wouldn't be able to contact Winstream directly anymore, you would contact your new ISP who in turn would open a ticket with Windstream. Wholesale internet is regulated, retail isn't, meaning the ILECs can charge whatever, whenever they want. With wholesale, new tariffs have to be submitted and approved by the FCC before changes can be made. Wholesale ISPs also pay Windstream ridiculous amounts of money to get their customers aggregated to their own equipment. There are ADSL port fees, ranging from $11.69/month (512/256) to $23.83/month (6Mbps/768Kbps), and ENAL fees. ENAL (Ethernet Network Access Link) fees range from $244/month for 3Mbps, to $1,630/month for GigE. A wholesale ISP with many customers will need multiple ENALs, one small provider here has 18 GigE links because the ILEC won't sell them 10GigE. That would be almost $30K/month the wholesale ISP pays just for ENAL, which provides absolutely no internet/transit access... add to that port fees (10K customers on 6Mbps = $238,300.00/month)... you can start to see why customers of wholesale ISPs get treated better. |

Re: Georgia ETA..??Checking in from Canton, GA with the same problems you guys have. I was coerced into getting the 12mbps service because I play a lot of online games. Funny, because I cannot play a single one as my ping skyrockets in any game, and I average 20-30% packet loss. |

18 Days until I should have a fix or at least that is what I was told 6 months ago, after the 6 months before that and the 6 months before that. Some how it is just getting worse. New equipment and it runs worse than the old stuff something seems to be really wrong.

Anyone know when equipment in Milledgeville, GA will be upgraded? I have been dealing with severe latency issues since May 2012. I pay for a 3Mbps Internet package.

Just so not Everyone in GA thinks they're getting something soon.... this was a reply I received over in the Direct forum: We did check with the network engineers and that are telling us that capital funding for the planned relief in your area has been deferred to 2013. My "area" is Manchester, with the main head end out of Thomaston. My 6 months are up on 1/12/2013 and I'll be with Comcast before that day. |
