Montreal, QC | I would be happy with 1/2 of the list. Why oh why do we have to wait so long. By the time Videotron has the same list of stations as Bell and or Shaw, Fibe will be in more places and we will all have switched. |

Not sure about the much better quality.
I can only think of a very few shows on Canadian networks that are not American. On French Canadian networks, there is a lot of high quality original shows made in Québec.
As for specialty channels, there is a lot more variety but there is also very low quality shows. There is also a lot of replays.
CRTC controls what can be shown on specialty channels. Prise 2 is completely moronic. It should never have been approved. The only HD programming will be films: that should have been reserved to CinePop.
On the English side, I'm a scifi fan. But Space should be called the Startrek/Stargate replay channel. ZTele, in French, has a lot more quality and original content. Anyone thinks SUN has high quality?
So saying "the much better quality in available English" is not completely true. There is very high quality on some channels and very low quality on others (English or French).
For Vidéotron, the question should be: If we add BET, CTV Two, HLN or another, will we make more money than Prise 2? (number of people buying * price sold - price paid). But they also have another variable: Is the difference in gain worth losing the marketing bragging rights of saying: The most French channels? |

Les chaînes peuvent maintenant passer au HD sans remplir une demande.
La limite de l'âge des vieux films (catégorie 7d) est passée de 25 ans à 15 ans pour Prise 2 depuis 2009.

Mais de toute façon, TVA est pas mal bandé sur les films de Columbo, Elvis et Jerry Lewis, facque on s'en fout.
