Re: If I am provisioned ADSL2, can I still use ADSL1 modem?

I've done it, my parents were having trouble with their Sympatico service when they had 7-meg ADSL2+ due to a bum modem; the modem was having major issues with ADSL2+. Disabling support for it, which forced the modem to sync with ADSL1, resolved the issue long enough to get a replacement modem (ended up just getting one from Bell).

That said, with the cost of a good ADSL2+ modem at $25 or less, there's zero reason to do this.
