Taxpayers foot the bill for lots of infrastructure in telecom esp. yet the telcos think they own it and get pissed when we the people regulate it. Really pisses me off. What does Romney say?

 | Yeah, and what do I get from politicians? Nothing.
If you want to discuss the interstate highways, that was because Eisenhower was worried about how to get troops from one side of the country to another and he saw how well the Autobahn worked in Germany. So that was for the primary benefit of the military.
And, anyone who rides the roads pays for those highways in gas taxes (both federal and state.)
As for telecoms, we pay the taxes on that too since we pay the bills to our suppliers (Verizon, ATT, etc.) Those increased costs get passed on to us anyway.
Elizabeth Warren is a farce. More taxes to businesses that will just pass the costs onto us anyway. If anything, she gets rich off of extortion of companies; contribute to me or I'll regulate you even more. |

1 edit | reply to VerizonCynic Elizabeth Warren, aka SITTING BULLshit
Big words from someone who lied about their ethnicity to get an affirmative action job.
She's right except for the tiny fact that half of the people pay no Federal income tax and little state tax. Without evil business and so-called rich people you wouldn't have any roads...or schools...or Congressional salaries.
So they did build that...it's the bottom 50% that didn't build squat except a constituency of dependency that would vote for a corrupt Crayon eater like Warren. |

With private infrastructure natural monopolies emerge and buildouts are always cherry-picked.
Also the interstate highway system's construction carried on well into the 50's. If you think the government could justify such a massive nationwide project on the basis of ferrying troops around, you're sorely mistaken. |

 | reply to skeechan Hey dont shoot the messenger. All I am saying is I am tired of private cos using the infrastructure "we" all paid for with tax dollars then charging us double for the "privilege" of using it.
As for Warren being a shill you need to read this »www.golocalworcester.com/politic···mpostor/ "as Forbes Magazine reports, Wall Street loves Scott Brown and that his top five donors are insurance corporations, and the largest by far, the financial industry giants like Goldman Sachs."
Also dont listen to what politicians SAY watch what they DO and the legislation they sponsor. Thats the key -- Lakewood Accountability Action Group | »www.LAAG.us | Demanding action and accountability from local government

| They're ALL whores to special interests and lapdogs to their radical party bases. Moderates with common sense are getting ousted by the fascist kook ideologues in their parties.
The days of a Gingrich working with a Clinton or a Reagan working with an O'Neill are long dead. It's all about posturing for the base now. |

If you think the government could justify such a massive nationwide project on the basis of ferrying troops around, you're sorely mistaken. Ask President Eisenhower why he built it and he will tell you that his reasoning behind the interstate highway system was just that; a means to ferry troops cross country. He was a part of the 1919 convoy that took way too long to traverse the country and he saw how important it was to move stuff.
Now, we can use planes for some things and even the railroads for the heavier equipment but the roads still move a lot. |
