Fairfield County lost the CT Fox station over a year ago when WNYW made Cablevision remove it not long after WTIC made Cablevision remove WNYW from the CT systems outside of the NY DMA. We still get both CT and NY OTA stations for every other network.

Bad publicity, no matter how small a population isn't good. Also it would not surprise me if MLB and Fox (especially with sweeps starting next week) started giving Cablevision grief. Aso anything that puts ammunition in FiOS and U-Verse's advertising arsenal isn't good.

Also, the small percentage of Cablevision subscribers who receive their Fox programming from WTIC-TV -- they're getting shafted as Fox network has some sports programming of value (NFL, MLB, NASCAR, etc.) to many people.

You have to wonder though how much farther Tribune is going to push this. Cablevision is in no hurry to get this fixed and I bet Tribune is starting to hear about it. So by what date? I'll be generous and say after the new year. THough I think that might change to an earlier date soon.

Satellite radio traffic sucks. So does 1010 WINS.

NJ101.5 traffic is OK, but it's only every 15 minutes and is difficult to receive in northern NJ.

WCBS also has the benefit of their own traffic helicopter.

I have no idea what News12 does regarding traffic. (What's "friends and family"?)

WPIX --> Yankees --> WCBS --> traffic... It's all related. ;)

Sirius/XM has a traffic and weather channel that provides updated information for the NY area. Maybe you should invest in a satellite radio...or a navigation system that provides similar data. Also, doesn't News 12 have a number you can call and listen to the audio of their Traffic and Weather channels? You could put that number on your "friends and family" list and listen to that all day on your cell phone!

Just because there is a baseball game on does not mean they don't have to do EAS tests and broadcasts. If the news was THAT urgent you can be sure they will broadcast it. Might piss some people off but it would happen.

I don't have cable TV - have an antenna, so I can still watch it if I wanted to. However, all broadcast channels can go dark for all I care. I only ever watch channel 13 and even then not often at all. The concept of having to watch what's on at exact time when it is broadcast (and 1/3 of time is commercials except on PBS) has lost any meaning to me. The faster cable companies turn into dumb internet pipe providers and everything becomes available on demand via internet with option to pay reasonable amount and get rid of the ads the better. Otherwise count me disinterested.

That's not Cablevision's fault. The Hartford Fox affiliate demanded that Cablevision drop the NY Fox station in New Haven County. The only county in CT that is in the WNYW (NYC) market is Fairfield. So, having Fox outside of New Haven County is subject to the local Fox affiliate's approval (WTIC-TV). Once that happened, the NYC Fox station answered back by demanding that WTIC-TV get dropped in Fairfield County.
