Haven't changed the insides, just added a second monitor. got the one on the left(19 inch 1280x1024) for $10 at a garage sale Saturday. So far my 460ftw still holding up like a boss, even when gaming on the right(1600x900) monitor and watching a movie on the left.
New monitors count as hardware changes right? |

Been too long since I've updated. I dropped the OC on my processor a long time ago and haven't had a chance to work it back up with the stability I want. That's on the (long) to-do list, right after I hang curtains all over the house for the wife.
My RAID 0 failed, and WD was kind enough to replace my two 640 GB HDDs (only one was bad) with two 750 GB HDDs. They are also Caviar Blacks, with 64 MB cache, and SATA 3 as well.
I snatched up a gorgeous 27" IPS monitor from Microcenter for a great price. These are as good as the $1000+ Dell ones for about a third as much.
I upgraded my GPU from an Nvidia GTX 580 1.5 GB to a Radeon 7970 3GB because my new monitor was bottle-necked by the lack of vram.
Also got the headphones at some point, and the speakers are some of the best you can get for a PC. -- If we lose this freedom of ours, history will record with the greatest astonishment, those who had the most to lose, did the least to prevent its happening. |

Re: Your System - September/October/November/December 2012 Added to my main PC: EVGA GeForce GTX 680 Superclocked+ 2 GB
Prior to this card, I had a used Radeon 7970 that I got for cheap. The card itself was a beast, but I had persistent issues with it and WoW (DX9: slower than expected; DX11: horrendous microstutter, crashing/BSODs), from Catalyst 12.4 to 12.11 beta and everything in between. It surprised me as that was the first time I had a relatively serious issue with an AMD/ATI card.
I popped in my spare PC's GTX 460 temporarily and got more consistent performance/no microstutter. I then decided to get the 680 and sell the 7970. So far I've been happy with it. The two game coupons were a nice bonus as well. -- KI6RIT |

Doctor FourMy other vehicle is a TARDISPremium join:2000-09-05 Dallas, TX | reply to dragon A couple of days ago (12/19) I bought from Amazon.com a Toshiba satellite U840W-S410 Ultrabook. Here is the productpage: »www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0086O···_s00_i00
Some specifics: CPU: Intel Core i5 3317U 1.7 GHz RAM: 6GB DDR3 SO-DIMM HDD1: 500GB 5400RPM SATA HDD2: Seagate Backup Plus 1TB USB3.0 external (bought yesterday at Fry's) DVDRW: Buffalo DVSM-PC58U2V external USB (bought this today at Fry's) Display: 14.4 in. 21:9 widescreen
While at Fry's looking for a bag for the Ultrabook, I saw a similar model, the U845W. It was 899.99, with similar features as rhis one. I got a good deal buying it online. The U845W is also 699.99 at Amazon.com -- I, for one, welcome our new Computer Overlords. |
