Advice for a new build

Hi folks,

My PC finally died (all the RAM slots on the mobo are fried) and its time to build a new box. I built her in 2008.

I don't do any serious gaming, just World of Warcraft, but I would like something half decent. I plan on repurposing my existing power supply and monitors. I have additional Hard Drives but will use the SSD as primary for the OS in the new box.

What do you think and do you have any recommendations, esp on the video card?

That should be a nice setup.

Any reason for going with 2 8gb stick of RAM? Kinda pricey compared to going with 4 4gb sticks.

I'm not dead set on it, just picked out as a quick price estimate.

Cut $100 from your mobo and add it to your GPU. Get a GTX 670.

I'm running nearly the same setup Pheonix, and it runs amazing. You'll like it. Take Kris's advice and downgrade the MB a tad and get a 6 series card.

What mobo are you using?

Gigabyte UD5H Z77.

What's strange also, it's more expensive now then when I bought it nearly 2 months ago.

This is fine for your needs. No need for a $205 mobo.

BTW, I want to echo what Exodus See Profile has suggested in other threads.

DarkRealm See Profile offers OEM combos at a fantastic discount. PM him for specifics, but he usually can offer a P67 mobo, i7-2600k CPU, and 8 GB of name-brand RAM for $250.

This is a fantastic deal and about 50% off.

Arch recently said something about it, and I PM'd DarkRealm to check it out. It's the real deal, and Arch said he has gotten 5-6 builds from him.

For my next build I will probably go through him too. I apologize for just getting this info out now. I don't watch the FS/WTB forums as much as I should and apparently missed his last post in August.

Just wanted to put this info out there that he can usually get combos even if he doesn't have an active [FS] thread.

Yeah, I just went over there and checked the FS/WTB forum, I need a HDD to finish off my build. Looks like there aren't any available atm, but I'll be checking in frequently, for sure.
