The night seemed long because someone's Internet died. Protusmose died too in the same night. What a tragic night.

TOWNSVILLE BULLITEN
Day 7, page A1

Thank you. Good evening and uh, what can I tell you?

[ Monitor: picture of Bernard Shaw ] The results of last Thursday's presidential debates were invalidated yesterday when authorities found traces of steroids in debate moderator Bernard Shaw's urine.

[ Monitor: picture of Dukakis between Miss Kitty and Festus from Gunsmoke ] After the debate, governor Dukakis was joined on the platform by his wife Kitty and his son Festus. Much of governor Dukakis's anger the other night seems to be focused on the Bush charges labeling him a liberal. Dukakis countered Bush's accusations by saying, "When it says liberal, liberal, liberal on the label, label, label, you will like it, like it, like it on your table, table, table." I don't want anybody out there thinking that I don't realize how stupid that joke is.

[ Monitor: Weekend Update snap poll ] A Weekend Update snap poll of one randomly-selected voter shows that vice-president Bush with a commanding 100% to governor Dukakis's 0%. [ applause, boos and hisses ] The poll, however, has a margin of error of +/- 100%.

[ Monitor: NBC/AP poll ] In a related story, a survey of Americans show that a commanding 82% feel that the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Mets in the National League playoffs. The poll has a margin of error of 18%. [ A baseball lands on his desk ] Wow. Gibson hit the hell out of that ball, didn't he?

[ Monitor: picture of Dan Quayle holding a pumpkin ] Here's a … [ waits for the applause to die down ] TV verité joke. Well. Here's an Update quiz: what's the difference between these two spherical objects? The answer is, eventually the one on the left [ the pumpkin ] will have a light in it. Sorry, Dan. Oh, you make it so damn easy.

After a lengthy negotiation with both parties, the Federal Election Commission has finally agreed to a slight modification to the standard ballot. The new Republican ballot will look like this: [ a box for Bush/Quayle, with "BUSH" in big letters and "Quayle" in small letters ] And a new Democratic ballot: [ a box for Dukakis/Bentsen, with "Dukakis" in small letters and "BENTSEN" in big letters ]

People who listened to the legendary Kennedy/Nixon debate of 1960 on radio felt that Nixon had won, while those who watched it on TV thought that Kennedy won. People who listened to the Bush/Dukakis debate on radio called it a draw, and those who watched it on TV felt they had listened to it on the radio.

[ Monitor: Pictures of the New York Post with covers of Tyson and Givens ] You know, I hope Mike Tyson and Robin Givens straighten this thing out soon. I don't need to see this much of Barbara Walters.

[ Monitor: Picture of Judd Nelson ] And I need Judd Nelson to get just a little weirder, okay? Judd. Call me, man. I wanna help.

[ Monitor: Picture of Ben Johnson ] Ben Johnson was charged with assault and dangerous use of a weapon in Toronto on Tuesday. Leaving the police station, he commented: "I'm going to Disneyland!"

[ Monitor: Picture of Ed Koch ] Amidst criticism, New York mayor Ed Koch has unveiled a new program to wash the homeless who reside in ever-increasing numbers in our city street. [ footage of people getting sprayed during riots ]

Donald Trump, today, pledged to donate $1.5 million to Mother Teresa on the condition that she change her name to Mother Trump.

[ Monitor: McDonald's logo ] This week, a federal study revealed there is now a McDonald's restaurant in every neighborhood in America, except on the street that McDonald's owner Joan Crock lives on.

It's been interesting man. You just weren't around for most of it.

So, Jim, 47, and me. If it's Jim, he's banking on getting 47 to vote for me, which should not be a challenge. If it's 47, then his power may play a major role after his lynch.

Why would the mafia not do a no kill overnight to keep the odds the same? That's either a new person error by 47, or a calculated risk by Jim, who brought it up in the first place yesterday.

I suggest holding off on votes until we can talk this out a little bit. That goes for you especially, 47. If Jim's mafia, you can lose the game with one vote. Let's all talk first.

I'm going out for a quick walk. Please don't be dumb and just vote, my fellow townie. Wait a minute first.

crap
Once upon a time, I was in this same damn position. There were three of us left. Before that happened, we had a plan. At the last minute, I changed my mind and voted against 'the plan'. We lost.

Unfortunately, the only plan I see right now is a coin flip. I'm 70-30 right now. I will not say who.

I had no plans on voting until discussion.

My power is now rendered useless. Even if I die today a townie will die tonight and we may get one back tomorrow and that 1v1 and gg mafia.

No.

I am town. If I die today we will go to night. The mafia (krist/jim) will kill the remaining town. Morning would come and chance would say a town would come back. It would then be 1v1 which I believe goes to the mafia. Correct?

I think its a possibility. You have played a very close to the chest game. We have had suspicions before during our list phase there. I also think Krist has made some fishy moves as well.

Here are all of the possibilities I see. I'm assuming ( ) 47 is the necromancer. Make corrections, please. I'm making other assumptions about the necro role.

1 Lynch 47 and 47 is mafia
a. mafia is reincarnated, townie killed, town loses 1 v 1
b. town is reincarnated, town wins no matter what (dead mafia cannot night kill?)

2 Lynch 47 and 47 is town
a. mafia is reincarnated, town loses no matter what 2 v 1
b. town is reincarnated, townie killed, town loses 1 v 1

3 Lynch Krist and Krist is mafia
a. town wins

4 Lynch Krist and Krist is town
a. town loses

I'm town so I'm not even going to consider it. If I'm lynched, town loses.

What is wrong with this list? I know I have to have screwed something up.

List looks about right to me Jim.

So, if 47 isn't mafia, then wouldn't you think mafia would have killed him for the chance to bring mafia back? Or, do you think they would not have taken the chance considering 1) they could bring a townie back or b) bringing a mafia back would just result in a mafia lynch the next day, only buying them one day. Thought?

If I were mafia, and 47 were town, he'd be dead already. Either that or recruited. I go back to something that was brought up previously. Why not have that role on your side if possible? But, did TR know 47 was the necro? Could he have recruited him?

Again, if I didn't recruit the necromancer, I would have killed him just to get the chance of having another partner.

You mean bring a mafia back to life? He said his power was that if killed, he would bring back one person to life who was dead. The odds would be depending on how many town/mafia were dead at the time he was killed. Am I missing something? Do I have the role incorrect?

It's a tough choice, actually. I can see TheRul recruiting you. He would not have known 47's power. There's no role so far this game that has that ability. Your power, as you say, is vanilla town.

If he did recruit 47, I can see them making up his power to protect him. But, 47 made the claim prior to the time he would have been recruited. Way before that time, in fact. I feel like it's me against the game here. Makes it fun.

I'll make a final decision on who I think is mafia when 47 gets back on. I have a few questions for him yet.

Then you said

So, which is it? Don't make this difficult for me.

I'm talking it out. 47 made the claim first, then was recruited. It all fits better than "Jim is masterminding this whole thing." I just have a sinking feeling you've been playing me this whole time. If so, bravo Jim. But the odds are against it, and more likely 47 was recruited. So....

Vote: 47

Jim, if you're mafia, you played one hell of a good game. Actually, if your town you played one hell of a good game as well. I had a lot of fun with this one. Time to cross my fingers, and see what happens.
