To me the term "temporarily unavailable" means a couple of seconds, maybe a minute but sometimes SHO2 and some of the STARZ channels would be "out" for half an hour or more and I would completely miss movies I wanted to view despite changing channels and trying to go back to the channel I still got that message - completely unnaceptable when you are paying 80.00 for the package of channels on iO silver and the premiums dont work. Why they employ this technology on premium programming makes no sense. I was close to moving to Direct TV but they finally removed the SDV so hang in there. If it ever comes back, I will refusse to deal with it and will just change providers. Until they figure out how it works, it should not be used.

To elaborate further on what I had heard above, they meant that the premiums won't have them fully removed either. Systems that have will be back on SDV eventually and more regular channels in the lineup will need it in the long run.

The only way this can be avoided if they upgraded their entire plant to handle more space for both internet downstream/upstream channels as well as space for HD channels.

Would there be anyway you could link/upload a screenshot or video of this? Do they have any audio?

During last scan of Bergen-Cresskill, there were 33 Analogs remaining, all of them programmed with the "Need a cable box/CableCard" Barker message.

Also, if I am not mistaken, this would mark the first time that Cablevision ever had Analog programming above channels in the 80s range.

Huh? Missing channels?

Many of the new HD channel additions in the past year were only added to the all digital systems. The systems that have just recently converted are just getting them now.

You aren't going to get the benefits before the informational slates are pulled, and they're not going to be pulled until either the whole head end or maybe just a single CMTS in the head end is all digital. The channels will not be added until work is done, so the group working on the guide has 0 impact on pulling the analog feeds.

The all-digital should be separate from the other two. Launch of additional HD channels after the full digital activation would also involve the same people working on the guide, but the all digital switch is simply someone changing the analog streams to the message at the head end, then later shutting down the message when the channels go black screen. No changes to boxes or software updates are required, and boxes do not need to reboot.

In a year from now, you'll have to "re-visit" this by either paying for the set top boxes, coming up with some other solution that requires an authentication device from Cablevision (or competing video provider), or getting a rooftop antenna.
