I think that is a good requirement, it is silly to have everything using its own interface design when there is a perfectly workable standard already out there.

Figure if Apple made cars they would require a special shaped gas nozzle to fuel it up. And of course sell an adapter for an extra $200.

I don't think it's a good requirement at all. Free market baby. Most of the market has moved to a standard. Apple is the one off.
