Best laser printer for home use on the market?

Or even a business grade one. Long story short printer is dying need a new one. Budget is $200, but I honestly have no idea what to look for in printers, whats a good thing or whats a bad thing. I would like to be able to hook it up to my router but thats all I know for sure.

Would anyone be so kind as to point me in the right direction?

For our home office, we've had good luck with our Brother 8480dn. It's a bit over $300 (except for the used models), but some of the less feature having units aren't.

Three Brothers here...all have been outstanding. Not network connected but that is a minor issue compared to the engine.

HP Laserjet p1102w would work for basic printing.

No information on what features you need, how it will be networked, what OS you are using (drivers cause lots of issues) or how much you print.

Checkout Samsung they are a decent line of inexpensive printers, you probably spend more on cartridges anyways.

SAMSUNG ML-2545 can be found for a little of $100

OK the Samsung has linux support(drivers). There are no instruction so installing the drivers is a pain. Newegg review has some pointers.

I've had a Brother HL-2270DW for almost a year. It prints on both sides of the paper, has wired and wireless network abilities, prints up to 27 pages per minute, uses 0.7 watt in standby mode and will go from wake-up to first-page-out in 10 seconds. The best part is that you can often find it on sale for around $100 or less.

Like most printers these days, it comes with a "starter" cartridge that lasts 500-700 pages. But you can get a high-yield toner cartridge that is good for about 2,600 pages for $45 from Newegg. Occasionally they're on sale for $35. There are also non-OEM cartridges that cost even less, but finding a good one can be a crap shoot.

Brother printer

Over 800 pages on the "starter cartage" 25% left , after that I'll hack the cartage with electrical tape tell it runs out.

My sister got a brother laser printer for $59.99
such a good deal

Thanks for that info. I googled it, and will try that next time we get the old 'out of ink' warning.

Not network enabled, but I still have my HP LaserJet 4 Plus connected to my Windows 7 64-bit PC. Drivers are installed via Windows Update. Durable printers.
