I suppose to some extent RAM is about timing (no pun intended) when it comes to price.

Historically new RAM types cost more and don’t necessarily perform significantly better. However, capacity typically does increase. Later in the product cycle prices fall. Still later when its successor has been introduced into the market prices start to rise again.

Like stocks, you want to buy when the prices are at a low.

I run 32gb of ram. But I mess with CG modeling as a hobby so I have actually used it up before.

Right now I am seriously considering getting the following hardware in the next few days:

Auria EQ276W 27” IPS 2560x1440 display (this would be the second unit I have been planning to buy) - $399.99

Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UP4 TB motherboard (dual Intel Thunderbolt ports) - $184.99

And that’s about it but if I were going to top it off at about ~$1000 USD I would add a 512GB SSD, which, is roughly in the ~$360 to ~$400 range (plus or minus). Crucial M4 512GB, OCZ Vertex 4 512GB or something similar,….
