The two antennas have nothing to do with quality. They do this to keep the size and weight down (phones like the SIII have three antennas) and give them the ability to create the least number of models while still supporting as many carriers as possible. Right now there are 3 different iPhone 5s that cover all the LTE carriers but if they did it the other way they'd basically have to create a different model for each LTE implementation.
