Linksys E1200 - Do I 'need' the CD?I just got the E1200, opened the box and voila... 'Install First' CD.
Do I need it? I find more often than not these discs have poorly done software, messes up the system, or gives a bunch of features I don't need. So hesitant to install.
Simple home setup, 2 computers on ethernet, 2 using WiFi, and setting up a simple passworded WiFi connection. That's it.
EDIT: Seems fine without the CD, just have to click "I Agree" like 3-4 times for pop up screens to continue without the CD. So... am I really missing anything? or just some Setup Wizard? |

Without the CD you are only missing:
#1 Setup Wizard
and
#2 Cisco Connect |

Doesn't sound like I'm missing much... screens are popping up 'are your sure?' and saying that it won't be as secure and can possibly disrupt my connection etc... simply using the IP address, once past the messages it seemed to work about the same as my old BEFW11S4 that I was replacing. In fact, prefilled my login info. |

no. you don't. The cd is there to help people who help those that are uncomfortable (or too naieve) interacting with the device directly. |
