(laughing) I thought I deleted the only functional shortcut to coretemp.exe but managed to find one and get it open on my own. Part of the problem was that it reset itself not to show in the tray when I rebooted after losing the internet connection.

Asked a moderator to delete the post as a waste of space.

What some see as a waste of space, some see as an opportunity! Or as I see it,a chance to cause trouble and give Sorto fits!

As long as we're here...please, does anyone know why I now have a file called CoreTemp.ini on my desktop and whether or not it needs to stay there or can be deleted? Will attach a copy.

Could it be a paperweight?

No. Computer desktops can't hold paperweights.

Silly. Later somebody will come along who knows what the file does.

That's a file, not "the file."

Yes, you can safely delete that file. I have never had that show up on any of my systems desktops. I suspect that coreTemp got installed to the desktop? I have that file in its folder in Program files directory.

Thank you. Yes, I think it was installed to the desktop when I copied what I thought was a shortcut from a folder yesterday. Apparently it's an .exe file rather than a shortcut. Didn't realize what was happening.

CoreTemp is still not listed in "All Programs." Should it be?

It should be in Program Files directory. The one above Program Files(x86). I would think it would or should have installed to there by default in the first place.
Edit: Ok I see what you did, you copied the .exe instead of creating a shortcut. That will do it. The light bulb comes on sooner or later.
