TekSavvy → [Cable] how stable is cable ping?

My friend has the "extreme plus" service from rogers and when I did a ping test it was jumping around between 8-13ms even though thats low its a bit unstable compared to dsl (my crappy 6mbps is rock solid at 12ms) is all cable that jittery?

8-13 isnt what I call jittery.

fair enough but my 4mbps dsl is solid at 12mbs so you can see where I'm coming from

Some cable connections are better, some are a lot worse. It varies, but those numbers look fairly normal.

What can you do with 12ms that you can't do with 8-13ms? I'm curious...
