Re: Google Apps dropping support for IE8

Question for you howardfine.

Why does LogMeIn works so much better on IE than Google Chrome? The mouse cursor skips and stutters a lot while IE is just smooth - its like the mouse is local.

(I know the answer)

Surprise you would even use it with Chrome. How do you have it set up? Last time I looked Logmein does not work with safari, firefox needed a plugin..
and for chrome you do this

»www.fixya.com/support/r8 ··· e_chrome

The google chrome plugin is still long overdue ???

This still happens...

Chrme has it's own desktop extension for Remote in Beta..still need to have someone on the other end so it will not yet compete with logmein..but they plan to have it function with just one user.

We do not currently support Chrome fully, it currently works with Flash, Java, or HTML (not HTML 5). For the time being if you are on a Windows-based PC, I personally suggest you use this extension for Chrome:

»chrome.google.com/websto ··· ponefajn

This will allow our ActiveX plugin (what we use in IE) to work in Chrome, and provide the full Pro featureset. I use it myself on my Chrome browsers, and it works great.

And that surprised me.ActiveX is a proprietary Microsoft technology. Don't expect to see it in Chrome.
Google Chrome doesn't naturally support ActiveX.

Active-X can be very dangerous.. I hope everyone running IE has it blocked so ONLY THE CONTROLS THEY HAVE can run!! (Flash,WMP embeds, etc)

In your IE6 do you have all of the ActiveX set for "enable" or "prompt" ?

Yeah LogMeIn Free works fine in Chrome... just not as snappy/smooth as IE's ActiveX. I don't even have Pro subscription.

I just went there like normally and it's working. Same with IE after installing ActiveX plugin.

ActiveX is great, Dude111. It's not like Java doesn't have many security holes. =)

But my question is..for Chrome when you use it..how are you using it..with ActiveX, Flash or Java ? To do it with ActiveX which I suggest..it works faster if you do the change.

see here and follow the link as the Rep from Logmein suggests.

NO....... DISABLE!!

Active-X can be very dangerous.... Years ago i didnt have things set like this and someone gave me a site (I used to always have scripts enabled as well) and the site wanted to install an active-x!!!! (I COULD NOT GET OUT OF IT.... CLICKING NO WOULD JUST POPUP THE BOX AGAIN) -- I tried 30 times at least....... I FINALLY PRESSED CTRL-ALT-DEL AND ENDED TASK ON MY BROWSER!!

Now i have scripting disabled (Unless i need it) as well as active-x 99% locked out (The local controls i have can run (Embedded WMP,flash, etc)) .. I also have USERDATA PERSISTANCE and ALLOW PASTE OPERATIONS VIA SCRIPT disabled....

It wasn't the Active X plugin for sure. I may try it later or I just keep using IE10 =)
