Re: never mindsaid by onDvine:CoreTemp is still not listed in "All Programs." Should it be? It should be in Program Files directory. The one above Program Files(x86). I would think it would or should have installed to there by default in the first place. Edit: Ok I see what you did, you copied the .exe instead of creating a shortcut. That will do it. The light bulb comes on sooner or later. |

Perhaps it did originally but I don't see it there now. Unless it's in a folder called AGI, which contains one folder called core. Doesn't seem to be anything relevant in it. Digging deep inside, I found a .txt file with a title but no content. I don't want it installed on the desktop but don't want to deal with it right now, either. Would delete the desktop one if that hadn't caused such dramatic changes yesterday. I have another CoreTemp.exe in a folder for FAH which also has a CoreTemp.ini. Perhaps if I open that one it'll take over and then I can delete the desktop one? |

How did you manage that trick? It should be in it's own folder in program files directory. Contents should look like this: |

Thank you! So...like the above only in program files. As long as it's working, it can wait a day or two, right? I'm not sure how I managed it, either. Edit: Except I don't have the last two files shown in your list and do have CoreTemp64.zip. I created that FAH folder, if I remember right. |

Ok then, you must have unzipped it to the FAH folder then. If it works no big deal then. I always download the regular installer pkg. the setup exe. That will put it to program files. No biggie tho. |

I tried to fix it by closing the instance on my desktop and opening it in that other folder. It showed the usual temperature range before but does not, now. All cores continue to show high (over 100° F) temps even though I've shut down F@H. Any suggestions on what I should do? I tried rebooting but it didn't fix the temps. I also enabled Overheat Protection, which was not enabled by default. Rebooted one more time and the temperatures shot right up again when F@H started. I don't believe they're true temperatures but am not going to risk running it as long as they're displaying that. Even without F@H, looks 20+ degrees over norm. |

I could do that, but they were always in Fahrenheit and never that high before. |

They were staying around or under 68-80 F and I think it may be a problem with CoreTemp rather than actual temps. Am just not sure. Restarting CoreTemp keeps bringing same temps. Would it help to reinstall it from the zip folder or would that be redundant? |

No you won't see 68-80F, Celsius maybe. 154F out of 221 max is reasonable. |

Maybe it was mixed up before? Was sure it was in Fahrenheit; I think you saw the numbers and told me to shut it down when you thought they were centigrade (edit: celcius).
So...you think the numbers in the graphic above look right for Fahrenheit? |

Your tj.max is higher than mine or Kathy's i7. just watch the temp after the core number,if you see one turn yellow that means hot. red means critical, black is good. |

One is yellow now and in the screen snapshot...always is. It's always the coolest one, on the far left. Please, is there another yellow to look for?
Edit: gotta go for a little while. Sorry about that. |

no not in the tray, I am talking about the 1st pic in your screenshot.(coreTemps GUI). These numbers should be black. BTW, it looks like you have a beta version of CoreTemp. |

Only thing is I rarely (spelled "virtually never") look in that window so will need to count on the tray's digits as warning. ... BTW, it looks like you have a beta version of CoreTemp. A beta, huh? Interesting. I thought it was you who led me to it but may be mistaken. Will check the thread about getting this new computer to find out where I got it for opus74. |

Ya gots to have the gadget to go with it: Core Temp Gadget 2.7 This is a sidebar gadget for Windows Vista and 7 for use in conjunction with Core Temp. There is not much to say about it, I think the screenshot speaks for itself. the gadget requires Core Temp 0.99 or higher to be running for it to work. » www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/a ··· ons.html |
