Cablevision announced that all boxes, SA & Samsung, are going to to move to the Onyx platform eventually. SA boxes will not get the current Samsung interface, but will get the newer one when it is available.

The current Samsung guide is the same as the one the SA boxes have.

Its a little different. The Samsung one is full hd while the sa 8300hd ones are not.

Very minor difference. Also you get 5 lines of program info. Other than that it's the same old interface with slightly faster speeds.

All the boxes are getting the new guide. Apparently the roll out starts the 1st week of October and will take about 3 weeks to hit all areas.

I am glad the 8300 dvr is getting it. I was going to just go back to the samsung if they were not. The only thing i need the 8300 for is to rw live tv.

How is the new guide going to work on the 4200/4250/8300 when they can barely handle the current one?

unless there is some post-processing in the boxes (there is a scaler but there doesnt appear to be anything else), there shouldnt be any difference when using HDMI.
i think you may be stuck on the brand name which is obviously synonymous with the televisions. (you more than likely are using a samsung tv)

He's right. Besides...his name implies he might be a Cablevision employee?

I think the same thing and I'm using component cables since my 2004 Dell HDTV doesn't have HDMI.

Cablevision will deploy Onyx guide in Q4, and offer WiFi service on trains

August 7, 2012 | By Steve Donohue

Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) says it will launch an advanced interactive program guide called Onyx during the fourth quarter that CEO Jim Dolan compared to the interfaces used by Netflix (Nasdaq: NFLX) and other Internet video providers.

The new guide looks similar to the guides Cablevision offers subscribers that have downloaded the Optimum apps developed to deliver live and on-demand programming to subscribers using tablet computers and laptops to watch TV, Dolan said.

Just shut up and wait until October 1st

Edit: Mind you that the roll out will not be to the entire footprint in one day. It will be broken down to specific areas.

Knowing Cablevision, and knowing the way they stagger upgrades in stages, it may take longer than ecpected:
Q4 means 10/1 until 12/31. How they'll implement the upgrade is up to them. We'll get it in Q4, but when is up to them.

Errr. No.

You CANNOT make a statement, that on the FIRST week of October the rollout will start and not back up where you got that info from.

EVERYBODY knows Dolan said the 4th quarter. Which is 3 months. EVERYBODY is aware of this action.

But yet you & the other guy are the ONLY ONES who know it will be on October 1st.

ZERO news on this anywhere. ZERO

I want to know (and everybody else) where you got your info from. Plain & simple. You don't come on here claiming a fact without sources.

So by your theory , I will say this & you have to believe me.

Cablevision is getting EPIX on November 19th. There I said it. Now you have to believe me.
