Bandwidth Caps

How strict is Charter on enforcing its bandwidth caps? Due to some online backups, and a file transfer that kept aborting and restarting a few hundred times I may hit my cap this month. Do they warn you do they just slam shut it off or?

They usually send you a bill for a few hundred dollars. If you don't pay, they'll shut off your service and take you to court.

Just kidding. They selectively enforce the caps based on usage patterns and area congestion. If you're not a habitual bandwidth abuser, you should be fine

Not enforced in most markets, but it varies by location (network congestion) as noted above.

In any event, you will simply get a letter/warning for the first offense.

I'm on the 100 meg plan with 500GB limit and I've gone as high as 2 TB or so several months in a row. Not a peep.

Dude! That's ridiculous!!
Go outside for a couple days and blow some stink off!!

Anyway,
Very seldom do they even warn you, especially the first time you go over.
