That's the name of the game these days. Everyone does it. Only publish stub/web installers so you can include crapware and who knows what else.

However it's not just that. I archive (full) install packages as I have multiple machines, VM's etc. I download one copy (for each O/S etc). I don't need/want to run a stub/web installer multiple times.

FYI even if web/stub installers are the only option I use this trick. Run Wireshark, or other network monitoring tool, and then the installer. Once it starts downloading cancel (if you wish). Then search the Wireshark log for .exe/.msi and find the real installer URL. Then paste that to your browser and voila you have the full install package. Some vendors go to great lengths to hide them.

As of this post Secunia is not treating it as a security patch.

Me too. Adobe wants users to use the get.adobe link so they can bundle their Flash with unwanted software so they can increase their profits. I only use the distribution page.

Aye, I guarantee ye, using distribution3.html I've had a twenty percent decrease in me "lice ratio!"

Ditto. Ahoy mateys!

Although the Distribution page claims the following:

Adobe Flash Player Distribution | Adobe
"Flash Player 11.4.402.278"
the MSI installers install version 11.4.402.267. Still. GRRRR!

Also, when I downloaded the consumer version of the installer and let it do it's thing on a test system, I got 11.4.402.278 BUT it didn't remove whatever other version (11.3.x or 11.4.402.267) I had installed using the MSI installer. DOUBLE GRRR!

I sure wish Adobe would get its act together.

I'm guessing you prefer the MSI installers vs the EXE installers for some reason?

Just downloaded the msi (plugin) & got .278.

96d41c47b8855b7dadf7b7778ad6c1cd *install_flash_player_11_plugin.msi

Note that other then the "msi" stuff, the msi & exe are exactly the same, as would be expected.
IOW, the msi has within a Data1.cab, & within that .cab is the exe, install_flash_player_11_plugin_11.4.402.278.exe.

OK, ditto with the msi (active x), 278

8f23f29ce09d7354ab3562f1c2d08abe *install_flash_player_11_active_x.msi

This is not a security update.

There were no code changes made and no need for you to update your client systems.

So they updated their servers, web pages etc for no reason whatsoever?

I did the update on five computers, but that's okay, I guess. It gave me something to do.
