Re: [Connectivity] New SB6120/6121 Firmware Released

said by Mike Wolf:

It's still possible.

It's possible that the entire east coast will go dark tonight, and the new firmware will install after power is restored. But that has very little relevance to the topic being discussed in this thread.

No new speeds, but I did notice that the Configuration page now indicated "Honor MDD IP Mode" and "IPv6 Only" for the DOCSIS MIMO and IP Mode fields.

Prior to this, I was already having dual-stack IPv4/IPv6. I don't know if this changes things...

The DOCSIS MIMO or MDD IP Mode is for the cable modem management interface only. That doesnt have anything to do with your side (CPE side) of the cable modem.

Just got upgraded here in Douglasville Ga, about 30 miles west of Atlanta we're usually last to see upgrades but that may give vindication to netfixer about the entire east coast being upgraded.

Model Name: SB6120
Vendor Name: Motorola
Firmware Name: SB_KOMODO-1.0.6.10-SCM00-NOSH
Boot Version: PSPU-Boot 1.0.0.4m1
Hardware Version: 3.0
Firmware Build Time: Oct 29 2012 18:07:13

Also noticed a new TFTP profile was pushed. This seems like a prelude to the speed upgrade.

'fraid not. A couple of well placed EMP events will take those out as well.

Yeah but if that were to happen I don't think a lack of functioning cable modems would be our first concern.

Well, that's a drag. Made it home this evening after a week long business trip, rebooted the modem expecting to see 1.0.6.10 and got bupkis.

Well, good news bad news. My modem rebooted this afternoon and I received the 1.0.6.10 firmware. The bad news is that my Blast speeds dropped from a solid 50/10 to 35/5. I assume that was related to getting this config line in the log:

SW Download INIT - Via Config file d11_m_sb6121_speedtier_c01.cm

That's not a Blast boot file.

Bummer. OK - I just tried resetting the modem and rebooting but didn't see any increase. Guess I have to contact Comcast and get them to push the right one.

Good luck. The Blast file should look like this;

d11_m_ [******] _speedtierextreme2_c01.cm

[******] Denotes modem model number.

That didn't work real well. Chat agent told me the file was correct for Blast, had me reboot once, s/he rebooted my modem remotely twice and then dropped the session.

Forget live chat. You would be better off with phone rep and do it during normal weekday business hours. If you still get no joy, post in the CC direct forum here.
