Re: [Speed] My French Car Forum is Being Throttled - But Why?I would have to agree here. Site is slow loading for me as well (not like it was this morning).
It would have to be evening congestion on our end I'm thinking, as it is what....2 or 3 AM in France (if that is where the site is hosted). Things should be really quite over there at this hour.
By the way, here is a current trace route if that helps with anything.

|
 | reply to TriForce yeah loads very slow for me on comcast I tried on my university internet, loaded quickly. |
|
 | Must be Comcast's worse peering arrangements slowing it down. |
|
 | reply to Checkerboard I tried it here on both my Comcast connection, and my AT&T phone (Galaxy S III on "4G" (HSPA+)). After about half an hour on Comcast, all I've been able to get it to do is load the page title. On my phone, the site loaded in about 5 seconds.

 | I have been experiencing the same problems viewing sites in the UK for the past 3 days now - it is really bad in the afternoon and evening but ok after 3am until about 12 noon. When I did a tracert the only common route was the tint.net and that was where the slowdown showed up on mine as well. When I connect through my phone at&t as a hotspot the speed is fine - just when I am on comcast and only for 3 days now. But just wanted to mention it isn't just a car site in france. |

1 edit | tinet.net is Inteliquent, a long haul transit network. Comcast swaps data packets with them to extend their coverage with other ISPs. It's a mutual benefit called peering. Apparently Inteliquent may be the slow down as Level 3, used by at&t, isn't affected by slowdown. It's fast on Comcast's backbone until it hits Inteliquent. |

 | reply to TriForce Wow- thatnks for getting to the heart of the problem. The site is once again fast this morning.
Any idea how to get Comcast's attention in order to address this? As I mentioned earlier, all they'll offer is to sell me a Signature Service subscription. |

 | reply to Imagnu Damn, this is frustrating. Any idea as to whom I should contact to get it addressed? It constitutes (for me) a radical reduction in service quality.... |

There's not much you can do about it, it's wrriten into your Terms of Service that slowdowns like that can occur (among other things). |

| I contacted tinet.net customer service last night - they said to email noc@tinet.net with as much information as possible like when it happens and including copies of your trace routes - and they will try to trace the problem. In the mean time I am losing business each day - so please email your problems to them and I will as well and maybe they will fix the issue. |
|
 | I am composing my email to tinet.net right now. However, I don't know how to run a Trace routing - is there an easy way to do this? Thanks, Peter |

sk1939Premium join:2010-10-23 Washington, DC kudos:9 | Go to the Command Prompt (under Windows 7/Vista it can be found by typing CMD, and under Win 2000/XP it can be found by going to Run and typing in CMD).
Then type "tracert autodejavel.fr" |

 | I received an email back from NOC@tinet.net - requesting a service ID which I do not have - will have to call them again. I really need this resolved as it is hurting my business. I am a web designer - I am hosting all of my websites on one server located in the UK - but my clients - like myself - are located in the USA and many use comcast. My clients are now complaining that their websites are not working - and if I can't get this fixed quick - I will need to move almost 200 websites to a different server. As soon as I noticed a problem I started to search for a solution which is how I found this forum. I will contact Inteliquent and try to get them to open a service ticket even though I am not a customer of theirs - as this is a problem they need to deal with anyway. I will keep you informed of my progress. Megan |

You are not Inteliquent's customer, and your complaints are not going to be taken seriously. Gently hinting to your hosting service that if the problem is not resolved quickly you are going to move 200 accounts from their servers has a better chance of being taken seriously. -- We can never have enough of nature. | said by devnuller:If you and all your customers are US based, you should move the 200 web sites. The one thing that can't be fixed some of the latency due to speed of light limitations. It isn't as simple as that - I have been with the same hosting company since 1998 ( I was living in England at the time). Although the majority of my customers are in the USA - Some of my earlier customers are located in the UK and Ireland. Because I have been with my hosting company for so long I still have the same package they offered at the beginning of their business - I joined when there was no limit on number of domain names hosted - no limit on bandwidth and no limit on space. And all at one low monthly fee. That way I am able to offer small businesses low cost websites and hosting services for very little - businesses that could not otherwise afford websites can now. Since this has begun 5 days ago I have been looking into other hosting and my hosting fees may increase to more than I am charging my customers. In the 14 years I have been hosting websites there has never been a situation like this. I appreciate the help and comments from everybody - and I understand that sometimes things happen. But I would rather not have to find a different hosting company. Thanks again. Megan |
