Re: 1700 Miles On A Tank And what is the premium cost of hauling around the 170 gallons of diesel over a standard 35 gallon tank on a fairly stock Ram 2500 ST?
1190 vs 245 pounds, assuming diesel weighs around 7 pounds? That is just extra dead weight.
Just curious............ |

People interested in the 5500 are not cross shopping the 2500 unless they seriously don't need the capability of the 5500. The 5500 comes with a 52 gallon tank and a 22 gallon auxiliary tank to begin with. So the additional tank is 96 gallons. An extra 700lbs on a truck that has a GVWR of 19500lbs. |

| I know that, was just pulling numbers.
When I was still in the Nursery Business, I hauled my own stock to my customers up and down the I5 corridor from Frisco to Canada. Every extra pound of dead weight was money out of my pocket in extra fuel.
My trailers were custom built light, yet very strong. I pulled with a F350 Diesel with the 7.3l. I did have 2 tanks, but cannot recall the total gallons. It did not matter, as I fueled at card-lock stations, of which there were many to choose from. My total weight many times was over 18k. Of course all the hardware was capable of more.
At the height of the busy season I leased and drove Freight Trucks [not u-hauls], equipped for the job at hand. |

 | Forgot to add in the cost of product. 1000 pounds of extra plants moved equal $600 to $800 added to the invoice. |

Needing one for the CXT is a myth too. International was smart enough to keep the rating just below the federal level requiring a CDL. It's GVWR is 25,999. Driving the truck itself does not require one. If you pull a trailer over 10,000lbs then you will need one. |

In the one you quoted - Lurch was only stating the extra weight of the extra tank. It has nothing to do with the CDL weight. -- Brian
